I am from nashville and my dad went to hillsboro where gordon goes. He says from what he hears from friends of his that have kids that go there that Gordon will not be a Vol next year.

Creer and Morley would have been locks for that. BJ could have possibly been. EJAW might have. Doubt the rest.

Creer is a very good back that got caught up in a numbers game. He made the decision (as Coleman did) that he had a better chance of getting some playing time elsewhere. Morley, IMO, is of questionable moral fiber. . .he had his chances and didn't take advantage of them. Broadly speaking, the rest saw the handwriting on the wall that things were changing, and that it was going to be a bit tougher to get playing time with the Vols. This will allow Kiffin to bring in more kids that he thinks will fit his mold. . .and play for UT early! I say, the cream will rise to the top!

GO VOLS!!

...well, You were DEAD on about Coleman, and I thought you were crazy.

Also, just wondering, We will have enough players in september to field a team and not forfeit? Right?

Do you have 2 accounts, tidefan1?

Could not make it here earlier to post this, but near the time the the sawtelle and coleman news broke I got a text from my buddy on the team that said sawtelle, Coleman, and Brimfield all quit today. It also Paige told several people today that he is transferring for sure.

Brimfield hasn't officially quit yet but he is going to be asking for his release soon, as well as Paige. Neither has officially quit yet but they are guarantees.

Maybe it's just me, but if we have a bunch of guys from a 5-7 team (most of whom did not start) leaving or getting kicked off, I don't think it is catastrophic.

That is some very solid logic. Sometimes that seems in short supply around here.

Just remember that each departure does two things:

1. Depletes the depth of what was already a pretty shallow pool in some areas.
2. Makes the 2010 recruiting class that much more important and ratchets up the pressure on the coaches to deliver a top class. We all said we expected a top 5 class, but Lane is about to put the coaches in a position where a top 5 class is essential to any level of success.

Honestly though, attrition happens when you change coaches, and there is more attrition when you have a dramatic shift in the organizational culture. I would say that you could call going from CPF to CLK a pretty dramatic shift in the culture, and I remember most of us wanting culture change back when CPF was still at the helm. These attrition rates are really what we all asked for and proof that CLK is running things differently.

Thank you. No knock on Fulmer, but I think people are just not used to guys getting kicked off or leaving. That makes everyone wanna think the sky is falling, when we are really just trimming the "fat."

I'm not worried about recruiting at all next year. The staff put together an awesome class with 2 months of recruiting. What will they do with 14 months?

He never did anything. I guess we wont miss him. Get in the kids who can play and want to play at UT. Good luck too him.

I hate to see these kids leave but what I think we are seeing is a bunch of kids getting slapped in the face with hard work and accountability. The one that does surprise me is BJ because I thought he had a shot to start but he also knew that the QB that we get next year is going to be the starter from day one.
At the end of the day the players that stay will be ready. They are all getting coahed up like never before and it will show maybe not in wins and loses this year but you will be able to see the change!!!!!
