Please start ripping people's heads off. What is going on? You might be the paper champs pre-season, still waiting for you guys to play up to your potential.

Kmac graded out 3rd among lineman. Kongbo has played about the same amount of football as your average HS Junior. Any other stupid questions I can answer for you?

Kongbo will get better with time. It's his first season with the Vols. Cut the guy some slack.

That being said, I hope he gets to show Bama what they missed out on.

Alexis Johnson gets his misdemeanor dropped, his birthday is tomorrow and his number may get called Saturday. Watched the plays he had in the Virginia tech game, was eating up double teams and a lot quicker than I thought. That was a month ago.

We will be fine Johnson is a better athlete and has more potential than O brien. Wish him the best. And Kahlil should step up as well. Lord knows he's got the talent.

Was that late in the game? I was there but don't remember seeing when he got in.

I agree with the OP....these guys were 4 & 5 * recruits with a TON of hype. Tuttle has been good yes, but the other 2 have been subpar at best. You'd think with our recruiting classes we'd have Bama/Clemson/A&M caliber defensive fronts. Its not even close. Its frustrating..dont be blind.

I think he and Picou with Shy & KMac will be ok. I really think the role of DTs changed a bit when JRM & DK went down. I think they are basically asked to do not only gap control but to also keep or delay OLs from getting on our LBs. It's been effective and once we get DK back, I think you'll see Shy & KMac becoming more involved as individual playmakers again.

Paging OP make better threads...Shy is just over a year recovering from a dirty hit that almost cost him his career. KMac had way too high expatations coming in for someone who didn't even play his senior year and was way overweight and out of condition. He'll be fine. Kongbo has been playing football about as long as Lane Kiffin stays at a job. Next year will be his year. (Also came in with really high expectations but everyone knew how raw he was.)

I will admit just like the Original Poster said. The only one of these 3 players that have played like they can has been Tuttle, Both McKenzie & Kongbo have been no-shows for most games. It's time they step up like Malone had done until the last game.

He decided to disappear when we need him most just like Preston Williams has done the same thing since the VT game. We can't have these key players not playing up to par especially with all these injuries.

Yeah it was the last VTech drive. Didn't make any tackles but he was a force. I don't know if tech had in their 2nd string O line, but their starting QB Evans was still in. Btw Picou was in at the same time as Alexis...I have nothing against Picou but he looked slow as Christmas compared to Alexis.

I'm not gonna call them bust just yet. They still have more time here on campus to change things. Kongbo(RS SO) only has two more years along with McKenzie & Tuttle who still has two years to go as well.

our interior defensive linemen have been ask to gap fill first because of injuries to JRM and Kirkland. this could make them appear a little slower than a fan would normally expect. i saw it explained and it made sense. they use this scheme when they expect the run. be patient....injuries are causing adjustments and things aren't always as they appear.:twocents:

you are exactly right..... the OP and other like comments pertaining to this matter should investigate matters more thoroughly before jumping to conclusions. we are fortunate to have recruited such good athletes to have the ability to do what they are ask....due to injuries. also shows good coaching.:good!:
