Pads were popping Saturday

We will beat Bama. They don't have a QB. The young QBs they have will be confused by Kiffin's D. Also we will not allow them to run the ball to beat us. Also they're secondary is still vulnerable. Also Vinson will be a better matchup for Julio than Willingham was.

That Bama O will give the defense fits. The only offense that bothers the "Tampa Two" is a straight forward pounding run game, which is exactly what Bama does. However, they did lose a lot on that OL.

I watched Bama with and without Andre Smith. In every game without Smith they struggled greatly to move the ball any kind of way. Take Smith and Caldwell off this line and we will be blasting their RBs and QBs all day. With our players playing downhill more this year it will be a long day for Bama's O.

Also do you guys think we were picked as a sleeper before last season for nothing? The potential is there. We need the passing game to step up and I think without Foster we will be a lot better in the run game.

To me, this lucid summary of that practice was something I've been waiting for for many, many years:

"Whereas other coordinators have preached passing to set up the run and taking what the defense gives (the better to bolster QB ratings and perhaps future job opportunities?), Kiffin's crew will clearly take what they want to take."

OMG...I love it!

Scheme wise, Kiffin's D is bothered by teams that play straight power football. This is what Alabama does. This is why Bama will give Tennessee trouble. That was my point.

I understand that but Bama may not be able to do that without Smith. I know Fluker's a stud but he's still a feshman and we have some good players lining up on D.

If you look at the Colt's version of the Tampa 2, you are right. But that is more of a personel issue. If a D-line is diciplined then the D lends itself to stopping the run. The Colts are too small up front to do a whole lot against the run. But look when TB had Warren Sapp, they stopped the run pretty well due to his size and dicipline.

we got nothing resembling Warren Sapp in the middle on our D line. we're moving ends to tackle due to lack of depth.

the d line will be athletic, but not over powering. a down hill power football team will have success against us next season.

Interesting. Monte might have something up his sleeve for Bama.
