Pack Your Bags To Atlanta Cuz..........

I'm calling you out on this one. There is no such thing as a "fine bourbon." This is where you look for liquids worthy of the SEC championship game:

Vercie, you've obviously never had Blanton's or Basil Hayden. Unfortunately both are from Kentucky.

I grant you, however, that the quality is much better per capita north of Hadrian's Wall.

UF choked against Auburn, got beat easily by Georgia lost a tough game to lsu. UT: lost only 2 games so far, and should easily win the last 2 to get the SEC east title. Beating lsu in Atlanta--possible.

Does anyone besides me find this conversation a wee bit premature? Not necessarily inappropriate, but maybe a little early in the game?

Remember, you still have a full quarter of your SEC schedule to play.

if gator fans were having this conversation my comment would go something like this....does anyone besides me find this conversation a wee bit tardy? not necessarily inappropriate, but maybe a little late in the game.

remember, the gators have lost over a third of the sec games that they played.

And you still have time to lose half yours.

I've been to the SECCG on four occasions and to the Peach Bowl twice.

Buy off the street, and listen to the threads above...just don't do it in front of a cop.

Even in 1997 (Peyton's final year) there were plenty of tickets outside ($100+ each).

In MOST years, they practically give them away down there on the streets. I came of the subway one year and held one finger up and instantly was surround by about 15 scalpers. That's not necessarily the norm, but I do think they will be very plentiful.

That's my understanding . . . I actually think you can sell tickets meant for personal use, but even the legal scalping is minimal around the stadium because they enforce a large buffer zone around the stadium (something like 2-3,000 feet).v

It's not that you can't do it. It's just that it's sort of hush hush and the cops up there can be a real pain about it.

I've bought them twice at the CNN center a few hours before the game at around face value. Its also a good place to drink back a few since there is a sports bar there and is right beside the dome.

He did have some interesting things to say about teams whose coaches were leaving after bowl games and the results(example of LSU/Iowa, Saban to Miami).
Hopefully we get to the SECCG and Miles is going to Michigan. All you stat freaks on the board should be able to help out with bowl game results after the teams cuurent coach was leaving.
I'd kinda' like to keep Miles around. I mean, he's got the best talent in the SEC, but I think anyone coaching there would. I think if they had a better coach come in we'd REALLY be in trouble. JMO

Don't you think that we should qualify to go to the SECCG before we are buying tix to it?

Beat Vandy and Kentucky!

so i would contend, short of winning the SEC, anything else that happens won't deter opinion of CPF one way or another.

exactly.. I will be very happy If we go to the SECCG.. but going to atl and losing wont mean much of anything.. in fact it wont be much better if any than not getting there at all. alot will be said that Tennesse got lucky to get there and losing the game just proved it. However people tend to remember the last game played.. So assuming CPF wins the bowl game he will still probably be back at least for one more year.

I've already made reservations at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta for 2 nights! There are some great restaurants nearby that they told me will be available.

I hear you. Ditto at Vandy
If by some miracle Vandy gets to a bowl game this year, with all of the job openings that are currently expected, I really wonder if Johnson will stay in Nashville. As long as the Dores have struggled for decades now, I'd have to say getting to a bowl game is the high water mark for them. You just can't expect to do anymore at that program given the admission requirements that hamstring their recruiting.

I do believe that UT is going to finish well and win the SECE this year (though I maintain you get beat like a drum by LSU in the CG). But that's going to be a lukewarm highlight for you guys for the foreseeeable future. Florida is building a juggernaut, South Carolina, despite the disappointments this year, is going to continue to improve. Kentucky has some momentum. UGA has that freshman RB and also some momentum.

Face it. Even if you do win the SECE this year, it may be the highest realistic aspiration for you for awhile.

The one wild card is coaching changes. Urb could go to the NFL. Richt may go to Fla State. Spurrier may get sick of taking criticism in Columbia and retire to Augusta. Of course, UTK could get an innovative coaching staff.

That just got really close to the infamous "Bobby Johnson is really a superior coach, it's just that he's stuck at Vandy" argument that makes me wince every time I read it.

I think he'd do better with more depth, which means he is somewhat hamstrung by his circumstances although he's the one who took the job there. That said, I think he choked in 2005 with the loss to MTSU.

oh brother........poor us. we have no reason to have any optimism about the future...o the agony that is TN football.......everyone has it better than poor ol' UT....

i mean it's not like we're not in 1st place right now. it's not like we don't have a #2 recruiting class already on roster right now. it's not like we don't have ANY talent coming back for next season, it's not like we haven't been to bowl games or title games in the last decade......

o when will it end........the misery must stop now.....

Urb? Not going anywhere for awhile I don't think. He seems dedicated to seeing what he can do with Tebow and Harvin, et.al. I think its fun for him. I don't see him even looking around for at leats another 2-3 years, minimum.

Richt? Word is that the FSU job is promised to Jimbo Fisher. But as long as there is life in Bowden's body, he's evidently not going anywhere. So unless you know something I don't ...

Can't speak to UT's coaching situation. But, if you want to see some discussion on it, you know the drill. Just say a positivie or a negative about Fulmer and there will be eight threads opened on it within 30 minutes.

the real interesting piece to me is that UF's defense took them to the promised land, lost all of its talent and now the D has absolutely lost them 3 games this year. Regardless the UF faithful (LG being representative of the whole) believe Tebow and Harvin are the difference makers for them going forward. Their D is comparable to every other weak D in the SECe and improvement on that side of the ball will determine the future champions. Given the improvement I've seen in our LBs over the course of this season and ridding ourselves of Karl, and the raw ability in our secondary, we're a couple of D Linemen from having a good D. I think the answer is that simple for UT. It's probably that simple for UF as well, but their odds are no better than ours of getting there.

As for Meyer, he got beat by 3 lesser teams this year. That is not the stuff of greatness.
