'17 PA CB Lamont Wade

Did not say they were horrid. Don't put words in my mouth. I am talking national attention. How often in the season do you see them as feature match up?

i get what youre saying and you are right. Ive been up there for a Pitt game with a buddy of mine once. PPl dont even show up to Heinz Field to watch them play typically. Its one of the lamest atmospheres in CFB on gameday.

That's all I am trying to say. There is no comparison in atmosphere and support for the teams. That is why I said, if he goes to Pitt the major factor would to be play close to home so his parents can watch him easier. I hope we get this guy. We need him.

The situation: Wade has seemingly taken dozens of visits and has many more scheduled. He has plans to return to Penn State, Tennessee, and Pittsburgh before the end of October. Wade will also visit Virginia Tech and UCLA before announcing his commitment on Dec. 17.

The frontrunner: Tennessee

Wade was in Knoxville over the weekend for the big comeback win over Florida. He seems to have really enjoyed himself and liked that the crowd on the College Gameday set was chanting his name. Tennessee seems to have the momentum now and Wade's official visit for the Alabama game could really help Tennessee solidify their leading position.

Other option: Penn State

Penn State avoided falling too far back in Wade's recruitment by winning soundly against Temple after a loss at Pittsburgh. James Franklin and his staff used Wade's visit during the Temple game to do some damage control after losing to Pittsburgh, but it remains to be seen how much Wade is buying that explanation.

But don't count out: Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and UCLA

Pat Narduzzi and the Panthers have dramatically closed the gap between them and in-state rival Penn State. Wade raved about his visit to his hometown school after the win over Penn State. Virginia Tech and UCLA will get their chance to impress Wade, but they have a lot of ground to make up.

Question on 247:

Lamont Wade seemed to have a good time at the game, but more CB's have come in for Pitt. Would it be fair to say that we are not the leader, there?

Callahan's response:

I wouldn't say Tennessee is the leader for Wade, and I've never really thought the Vols were in the driver's seat. The smart money always has been on Penn State or Pitt, with Ohio State not necessarily pushing for him right now. But with Penn State struggling a bit, I think that at least opens the door for Tennessee to have a real shot.
