I think Moore is better suited at SF, but he will be in the starting 5 for sure.

SF-Hubbs? Moore?
PF-Moore? Jabari? Carmichael?
C-unknown guy? Jabari?

There are so many unknowns on this team. I mean from what I just listed you still have Baulkman, Mostella, Phillips, and Schofield on the bench. I'm curious to see who our best 5 will be lol.

If scholarship situation stays the same (3 to give.) IMO...

PG New guy/Bonds
SG Hubbs/Punter/Mostella/Phillips
SF Moore/Baulkman
PF McGhee/Reese/Schofield
C New guy/Carmichael

This also leaves 1 more scholarship that I would imagine goes to either a bigger wing player or another post.


There are still so many ways this can play out. So many questions about where is going to turn for help. Does he get in on any of the big time recruits still out there? Does he find some really good graduate transfers?

Owens reminds me a lot of Durant, without the ball handling skills, shooting skills, and playmaking ability.

I personally think Punter looked the part. Unfortunately I think he was to passive at times. Should have looked to score more. Baulkman I think was slowed to much by the shoulder injury. If you think about a shoulder and not being able to extend normally. Or go up for a shot with normal motion. Its going to affect your shot and your mindset. Armani Moore. Oh man. Work horse in a pony's body. Playing the PF position at his size. And to rebound and score the way he did. I think he has exceeded all expectations. Jabari was the one guy I took a liking to. Hr played hard and showed signs of greatness. He has the potential to be all SEC by his senior year. Reece I have never been a fan if. Inconsistent is the word. He will hit a timely three. Then turn it over three times in a row. I think he forces the action instead if letting it come to him. Find us a floor general and a good low post threat. And the pieces are there for a 20 win season.

I didn't like the way Owens father said that his son didn't get recruited by Barnes and the coaches that did, didn't even know if they were going to be retained. He stated that none of the boys were. Speaking for his son is fine with me, but he is trying to plant seeds in the others minds. Why? What does he get from others leaving? I guess he didn't want his son to be the only player to leave.

Or he's developed other things like his body, vertical, dribbling (gotten much better) and post moves. All he needs is a good shot to make opposing defenders play closer to him so he can get to the lane more often.

iKrager I definitely agree. If money develops his shot he can be a dangerous player. I have a question though about Rob Gray. We need a PG and he's definitely still available, so is there still any chance with him?

Liked Owens. But it's probably for the best on both sides. Barnes will probably recruit over him quickly. Owens has potential, and probably can develop somewhere else just as well. Best of luck to him.

Yeah not going to win big with people that are afraid of other potential good players coming in. I mean do you want to win and get better. If so then we need more big time players. A coach isn't doing his job if he isn't looking to improve his roster every year in a game where kids can go pro any time they want to. So yes you have to over recruit or attempt to every year to avoid our current roster situation

First I would like to say how much it was a pleasure being around the great University of Tennessee. Myself and my son Tariq Owens never wanted to leave Tennessee. When coaches change and the entire staff changes it makes for a very difficult situation. This decision wasn't a easy one but it was one we felt we needed to make. For the most part it has been positive feed back. Few of you guys are passionate fans and have said some negative things and that's your opinion. Some of you guys have never played competive sports on a high level. Whether we want to accept this fact or not college sports is a business. My son has his own goals that he wants to try and achieve he has a small window to try and make that a reality. The difference between staying and leaving came down to two important factors. Under the CDT staff we knew that they would recruit other players but what a lot you don't know is that this team would have been built around the players they have and they would have a opportunity not a guarantee. We all know you don't produce you not going to play much. With Barnes there is no relationship and nothing vested in the boys on UT now. No disrespect to Coach Barnes he has to do what he feels is best moving forward. Tariq could have benefitted by redshirting this year. But due to the personnel and previous coaching change they needed him to play early. He showed signs of his upside even given away 30-40 pounds most nights when he played against the other bigs. He average 6-7 minutes a game this year and that came in the later part of the season. If you know basketball you know he has potential he's not there yet but it will come. The other determining factor is not having anyone from CDT staff stay. Atleast one that has a relationship with the current boys. Coach Pinkins could help with the transition the team trust him. That's not in place. The question for me was do Tariq stay at Tennessee where he may not get the opportunity to maximize his potential or do we look for another opportunity where he will have that opportunity. It's better to be where your celebrated and not tolerated. If CDT was still at UT we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Sometimes life throws you curves you have to deal with it. I wish nothing but the best for The VOLS and will follow the boys who stay progress. GOD BLESS all you and I appreciate all the ones who ever supported Tariq Owens. The ones who didn't I appreciate you too because criticizing helps you stay focus and working hard as well. Thanks again Renard Owens

I would never try and convince any of the team to leave. I was speaking directly for Tariq. I have not talked to any of the team about staying or leaving nor do I have plans to do that. They have to do what's best for them and them only.
