Overly concerned?

Y'all only faced 1 team that was more efficient on offense than GT last year and that was Bama. Don't let our style of offense make you think we don't have play makers. Just go look up Clinton lynch. We were in the top 3 offenses last year in big plays as well.

With totally new main parts on offense this season.

Only two new parts. UT has more parts on offense that have moved on.

Great but your point is useless when discussing 2017. If you see anyone touting our offense based on our former senior qb and leading rb's be sure and call them out on it too.

Please tell me that I am overly concerned about the GT option offense. Air Force ran a flex bone offense against us and we squeezed out a 31-30 win. That was after they had 280 yards rushing. I thought it was interesting that ACC teams try to have the week off before playing GT to prepare for their offense. Tell me to relax, okay.

Relax, okay? When the first concern you mention is a game against Air Force, what year was that? Only game I remember against them is the one Inky got hurt in. If that is the case, are you afraid of visiting Ford's theater or Dallas because presidents got shot there?

Oh and the week before we play Georgia Tech? We have it off too. So go to the cooler, grab 2 beers, throw one to me, pop the freakin top, slug it down, and relax.

We didn't have the time to prepare for AF and I may be wrong but thinking we played UF the following week and I'm sure there may have been some looking ahead to Florida. But fortunately we play them game 1 so we can prepare for it, they also have a new starting QB and hopefully being game 1 they won't be as sharp running their offense. So hopefully the combo of a new QB for them, being game 1, we play Indiana St the following week and us having all summer to prepare for it that we won't be chasing them up and down the field like we did Air Force.

This is what I was going to say. Having concern is a valid premise but the circumstances are different.

We've had all summer/fall camp to prepare for GT, whereas AF was sandwiched between Cal and Florida.

Our d-line was not very deep in 2006 either, I think Justin Harrell was our best DT and he was playing with one arm.

Same goes for our offense your original post was pointless when discussing 2017 lol.

Whole offseason to prep for GT, they are losing their top RB and breaking in a new QB, we return most of our talent on defense....we will be fine

We lose our top 3 rushers, top receiver, best DE in the country, and are breaking in a new QB. They have had all off season to prepare for us.

Just playing Satan's advocate 😘😘

My point was completely relevant to your useless stat of last year's efficiency since the main part of that is gone. It has no more impact on the current team than Josh Dobbs rushing stats or Kamara catching pass out of the backfield would have on UT this season

GT lost their QB, all ACC RB, LB (most tackles), and DL (most sacks).

QB and full back (B-Back) will be untested. This is counter balanced with 4 tested RB/Slot Receivers and 3 proven WR.

The proven RB loss will hurt the most given no significant experience behind him. Although, I saw the true freshman at the scrimmage and he looks as good as the one GT just lost, but faster. But, nothing replaces experience in GT's system.

It's already been said once in this thread, but I'll say it again. This will be about assignment football! Plain and simple. Read your keys, do your job, and don't miss tackles. Do those 3 things on defense and score a few points...GOODNIGHT!

Most of our defense from 2006 has since graduated, so we'll have a little different look now.

Seeing how thats 11 years ago.. I'm positive ALL, not most, have graduated or moved on. How could anyone be still on the team???

Most of the time, the team with the most talent will win. Talent and conditioning seem to prevail. While we lost to USCe and Vandy last year, that was with a decimated football team. I expect a healthy UT to edge out a decent and tough GT team

That's just one play lol. GT runs a lot more plays then people think.

That's the backbone of their offense, getting the ball to the outside.. Containment is the backbone of defense. But GT is quick to the edge because of their scheme. We must control the edges.

OP...we'll be fine...remember, they have to get ready for us too...may start a little slow, but we'll pick it up and put the game away...at least that's what my crystal ball said...:)...that GT blocking scheme is the only thing that bothers me......:salute:

GO VOLS!

It seems GT struggles when a defense has time to prepare for them...see the previous GT bowl games.
