Overall feeling about the season to this point????

In a nutshell. . .UCLA and Auburn should definitely have been victories. The Vols represented well, albeit conservative, against the Gators and could very well have beaten Alabama. The loss against the Rebels is a bit confusing to me. . .perhaps they were affected more than I thought by all the B.S. surrounding the robbery attempt fiasco!! Very important to beat UK and finish 7-5, and get to a mid level bowl. Overall a solid foundation for 2010. :good!:

Also liked the way Kiffin handled the Cumberland Ave. situation. . .firm but calculating.

I am overall happy. I am a little scared and shocked about how the defense has been reduced to walk ons and 3rd-4th deep guys.

Worried we may end up 6-6 after our trip to Lexington.

This may be their year. The offense is going to have to put up some points or the streak may end.

Biggest upside has been the emergence of Crompton. He was written off for dead and now he is one of the best QB's (4th best?) in the conference.

Sad that it's almost over. I would have liked to have won a few that got away. Over all happy with what they put on the field.

I'm eccstatic. I thought 5-7 was a best case scenario for this team when you look at the lack of talent at many many positions.

I think we need to be amazed with what these coaches have done with these kids.
1st we had 2 games that could have been wins instead of loses and maybe a 3rd if we could have had a receiver catch a ball in the first half of UA game

2nd In the past we ALWAYS played field position in the Fulmer years, and it’s been fun to see CLK have the ***** to go for a first down. And the offense will be balanced with the "try to stop us from scoring" mentality

3rd All of you naysayers when CLK let D coach go before he brought in CMK to replace him, and the CO passion has "walk on, 3rd and 4th string players" playing WELL beyond their limits is just amazing, needless to say how CMK has keep us in games with UF and UTide allows us to recruit.

What this staff is doing with the talent they have is amazing. We are competitive with teams that have much more talent, the team is playing for a full 60 minutes in every game and that is something we haven't seen for a while.

Can't wait for next season with two recruiting classes on the field.

The verdict is still out on Coach K's on the field performance. We have played very well at times with much better performances against our 4 biggest rivals (Fla, Bama, Ga and SC), but the end of game play calling was very questionable in both UCLA (17 straight runs) and Bama (not trying to get closer than a 44 yd FG attempt after two straight previous failures) shows a potential lack of experience that will hopefully improve. We desparately need to beat Ky to have a good ending to our season and at least win one game on the road.

I expected no worse than 8-4 the way our schedule set up. I did not expect to lose to UCLA. I will be happy regardless b/c I like the direction we are heading but 7-5, 8-5 with a bowl win will make me alot happier than 6-6, 6-7 with a bowl loss.

I disagree on both accounts. He put Tennessee in a position to win both of those games on the final play, that is all you can really ask for.

Against UCLA Crompton couldn't hit the broad-side of a barn and threw something like 4 interceptions. He made the right choice going to the run and trying to win the game that way.

Hopefull.. Three games got away that should have been wins, UCLA, Auburn and Bama. The Ol Miss game wasn't that suprising I thought there would be 2 or 3 blow outs this year so one let down is not bad.

The way this staff recruits and coaches up the talent, we have a bright future ahead.

im pleased, wish we could of won the ucla, auburn game and it would of totally made my season if we could of beat florida or bama, but hey we gave them a scare, and now they know its only a matter of time till we beat them..so i guess that sort of makes me happy. the coaching staff has done a tremendous job with what they have to work with (thanks fulmer.thanks alot) i love what they did with crompton,i left him for dead and didnt have one nice thing to say about, and the crow taste mighty good! its sad to see the season end..but that makes me all the more eager to see the vols next year.

I'm finally excited to watch UT football this year instead of being nervous about how we were going to blow it. CLK has these guys playing their hearts out and the player development is also already very tangible. UT is going to be a very scary team once we get a full roster with some decent talent. If CLK can turn Crompton around like he has then you know we are going to have a potent Offense in the future. CMK needs to tighten up the D against the spread, but they are def playing above their talent level. The Kentucky game will be interesting to see if we can get a road win, but overall the future looks very bright on rocky top!

A qualified success.... A field goal kicker would already have us at 7-4 and if the Crompton metamorphosis takes place two quarters earlier we're 8-3. I won't even go into the UCLA game which we also should have been able to win, had we possesed a passing game at the time. All in all however I'm pleased so far. A win over Ken-turkey and a bowl win and I'd call it a terrific springboard going into next season.

I am excited about the future!! This season has been about what I expected (wins wise). The injuries on our D have really sucked! All in all I am pleased. The effort has been awesome! Kudos to this coaching staff!!

1) About what was to be expected overall.

2) Crompton showed marked improvement. Had he recevied better coaching and had decent receivers over the last two years, who knows?

3) Kiffin has control of the program. Overall, I like him.

4) Berry was strong early, but has disappeared as the major force I expected him to be towards the end of the season.

5) Those predicting 8-4 or better were as drunk as the rest of us thought they were because, once again, no matter how motivating your coach, over the course of a season if you have only a handful of top level prospects, and then you have injuries to deal with on top of that, you are going to be limping to the finish line. Its the nature of the beast.

I like the direction this coaching staff is taking the team. I'm amazed at how they got the best out of scrubs to become competitive. When the talent gets in here we will be a team that no one wants to face. Lets just hope Monte figures out a way to stop Kentucky's spread attack so we can finish 7-5 then hopefully 8-5 after our bowl win.
