Hello Vol Nation-

I read on one thread, one of the posters stated that the overall appeal of Jones on the campus of UT was not all that high. Is this True?? Are there any students on this forum that can or can not confirm? Or "insiders" for that matter.. Just curious..

It seems the chemistry between coach and players is forever low.. You would think that would echo throughout the campus as it does throughout the Vol Nation fan base..IMO. However, the student body as a whole seems like it is as tired as we the fans are..

GBO.

Winners are almost always revered on college campuses. Losers (especially to teams like USCe and Vandy) are much more hated and often called out to Hit the Road.

Face it. Jones has shown he is in way over his head. Don't believe it? Wait till next year when the "injury bug" isn't as big an excuse as he has used it this year. We will be lucky to be 6-6 next year.

Trust me.. I completely believe you. It's crazy to think months ago the hype train was in full force... turns out this season was a flop..

Why the **** should people trust your judgement about Jones? I absolutely don't believe you. I'll be around to troll the fire Butch posters for years to come. Butch so far, has done a lot of *first in years* since he has been here. You have to abandon all logic and rational to conclude absolutely that he can't get us to ATL.

I am a student and "insider." I can tell you that CBJ isn't the hottest commodity I've ever seen among my peers.

Going to date myself - I was there during the Majors years and students were not high on him as well. Students like to be able to gloat to students at other schools and the only way they can do that is if their sports teams wins.

I bet they really loved the coaches and team after the Florida and Georgia wins. Probably don't right now because of the last loss. Students tend to be very fickle with the "I'll support you dependent upon whether you have done anything for me lately".

Even Saban complained last year (or maybe it was the year before) about the students at Bama.

I just wonder if our defense would be better if Shoop had his own assistants, instead of the Jancek leftovers.

I think it would be infinitely better. The big question is, will Butch let Shoop hire the ones he wants? Butch and Shoop need to have a Ditka/Ryan relationship. Let Shoop run the defense and keep your nose out of it.

Well if he wants to keep his job he better. I think Dick Satan let Kiffin go with the Bama offense the past year, so hopefully Butch will catch on.

When you build the hype train that Butch did and come up with all these cliches "own it" "rise to the top" "brick by brick" and don't produce this is what happens. Regardless of injuries we had more talent than South Carolina and Vanderbilt so that's an excuse. With losses to Bama and A&M and a 10-2 record I would say most would be happy with that season and an awesome bowl game. Butch has earned his criticism.

Butch is growing thick skin right now, thanks to us good folks here... next year, watch out, he will not stop scoring until they drag him off the field, he is going to be a monster. And it will be our fault.

Why would anyone want to come coach here when it would only likely be for one more season... I dont see us improving next year with even less experienced players than this year.

Great coaches already have that characteristic.... urban and harbaugh were beating conference and non conference teams 63-3 this year meanwhile we "sandbag" against app state and Ohio and look like fools on national TV

Yes, its the first time we've had 2 five star players leave in the middle of the season. Another "first!"

As I posted on another thread I know a student at UT who is friends with Dobbs and they say Butch has lost the team and the students hate him.

Man there were three Septembers and four Octobers when I was in school there Fulmer didn't have any appeal. Phil finally owned Bama after 95 but Florida and Spurrier owned him. We sure owned Candy. Butch had to go and lose to Candy. Yuck!
