The first year of the Butch era I feel like we under achieved, granted we lost a lot of players...Second year the same song with losing players to graduation, but I totally felt as the season wore on you could see the improvement...Third year most returning starters in the league, and a quarterback that proved his worth last year... I think we overachieve this year just like last..

The roster is significantly better now then what he inherited.. We have a real chance of winning the east this year

It depends on line play. If the O-line and D-line play average or above the sky is the limit. I'm curios to see how well Kamara does. I think he is key too! GBO!! :good!:

Last year they "met expectations" @ 6-6...

This year expectations are much higher @ 8 wins (although several Pumpers 'round here calling for 9,10+)...

So..."meeting this year's expectations" are elevated immensely...

They underachieved the first year. Losing to Vanderbilt.....Well....nuff said there.

Last year, other than the UF loss, I'd say they were right where they should have been. The bowl game blowout win didn't replace the UF loss but it was a great way to end the season.

Anything less than 8 this year is failure. With no significant injuries and a good overall season, 9-10 is definitely obtainable.

Yeah the vandy loss was bad year 1,but year 2 most experts predicted 5 wins and we 2 upped them...this year I expect the same with an 8-4 season and a bowl win...

With threads on 7-5, and no better than 2nd in the east I'm calling over achieve. I look for us to win the east.

At the end of the day, the only difference between '13 & '14 was UT beat Vandy...then won the bowl game. UT didn't over achieve last season.

They met expectations both years. Blah blah blah Vandy/Florida. The overall record ended up being what reasonable people expected. No business losing to Vandy year one and had no business beating SC the same year.

Overachieving this year will be 8 regular season wins.

In spite of what some of you think the lines are both young - experienced but young - and being young means that physically they are not there yet. Another year and the lines will be untouchable, and then you get success.

Everyone is making guesses without a set control. If we use the line that has been attributed to us, 7.5, I think we probably overachieve. If we use the line set by some on VN, " Bama is the only team that should give us trouble 11-1", probably underachieve.

Agree. Couple your sentiment with a 24 point loss, a 31 point loss and an awful loss to a bad Florida team and there's just no way we overachieved anything in 2014

Vandy in year one has become the rallying cry for Butch doubters. Explain how a team that managed to beat 8 other teams (including Georgia and putrid Florida) was an "inexcusable loss"? Butch had his squad poised to beat an eventual Top 25 bowl winner, with a true freshman QB and barely a WR left...and it came down to an unnecessary block in the back by Pig AND a sketchy review for them to pull it out. We didn't get beat by UMASS people! Revisionist history is revisionist. :pinch:

Um losing both the offensive and defensive lines and we were the youngest team in the nation... Everybody picked 5 wins and we got to 7...in my book that's overachieving..

But that was a Vandy team that finished 9-4. Plus they beat SC, a team that finished 11-2 and #4 in the nation, so to me those 2 games were a wash.
