I understand what you guys are getting at. We are thin and inexperienced. However, I really think we failed to get ready for this game (at least so far . . . still have the second half left to play.) I'm just sick of this kind of stuff. It is one thing to lose. It's another to come out and fumble, bungle, and stupify our way to being 3 touchdowns in the hole. I'm not calling for Coach Dooley's head, but man this looks like a Fulmer-coached team headed into a big game. How many times did we see that between 1998 and when he was fired? The spanking we took from Nebraska in 1999 bowl game? The 2001 SEC Championship Game? The two pathetic Peach Bowl losses to Clemson and Maryland? Pretty much EVERY time we've played Florida. That blow-out loss to Alabama during Eric Ainge's senior year? CAL the year after we beat them in Knoxville? The UCLA loss in 2008? I could go on and on.
I am just severely disappointed that we aren't mentally prepared to play today. I haven't had the highest expectations for this season, but I expected us to be better coached than in years past. We've seen glimpses of that a few times this year, but we are following up the world's worst end-of-game performance with one of the worst game preparation week's in a long time. I hope we turn it around in the second half, but given what I've seen so far, it looks like I'm just going to be doing the old "face-palm" over and over and over for the rest of the day.
Let's go, Vols! Wake up and play like we belong in the SEC!
