Duke Blue Devils.

They were 8 and 6 in the ACC and still ranked 14. It just amazes me. Well Carolina is going to hammer them on sunday.

I actually think Duke will surprise a few in the NCAA Tournament. Fantastic defensive teams can cause tons of problems in March.

They're ranked because they're Duke. Wins and losses don't matter when it comes to Duke.

I say watch out for the Hokies and the Longhorns..

And the Vols...:)

If we can effectively use our ball pressure like we have in the last 3 games, we'll be in great shape.

Duke will be there but not too long. Team to watch for Georgetown.

We all know that this isn't the Duke team we've come to expect year in and year out. I think Coach K has done a good job with a team that's young and not very athletic. That being said, Duke goes out the first weekend.

Duke appears to play very small and they don't offset that very well. They do play very good team D and that has tremendous value at tournament time, when 3's don't roll off the fingers quite so easily.

This is why our seeding is so important right now. We need our first round match-up as easy as possible b/c it gives the team we face 3 to 4 days to prepare for our pressure. If we can get past our 1st rd. opponent then I think our odds greatly increase to beat our 2nd rd. opponent b/c they will have far less time to prepare.

I see a sweet sixteen in our future, but we really need to win @UGA and at least two in the SEC tourney for about a five seed IMO.

they're getting better. Duke doesn't have ballers like unc and even maryland (very impressive last night with their transition game) and others. Coach K doesn't like recruiting studs who play for a year or two and leave, but I think he's got to change, and knows it, to keep up with arch-rival UNC.

As for tourney potential, think about teams that have played well //on the road// this year. Everybody wins at home. I don't see that many games, but va.tech could surprise--and Texas A&M is very impressive. They beat a good kansas team in kansas, and almost beat texas away last night--double OT loss. Very well coached. Kansas is very talented by young and always seems to go down easily in the tourney. UNC is young but also very talented and should play well. Pittsburgh is enigmatic: plays tough but doesn't have enough talent, I don't think. Duke's McRoberts is a better inside player than Gray of Pitt--who is not mobile enough to be really strong. I don't think georgetown can win more than two games. Haven't seen ucla but they must be pretty strong.

As for the Vols, I liked the way they passed the ball against florida and I like the way they are getting points inside from the bigs. That's why this team is better. You aren't going to go far relying on one or two guys to make a lot of treys--that doesn't work as we saw last year. You need some strength/points inside.

Where did you get this idea? He hauls in as many McDonalds All-Americans as anyone else. He's had quite a slew of them leave early over the past 10 years. I'm sure he doesn't want them to leave once they're on campus, but he still recruits those that fit his profile (read: not prima donnas).

William Avery and Corey Maggette are the only two that left as freshmen if memory serves. Brand left early but he had already won everything possible that he could want. I remember coach K supposedly gave his blessing to Brand to leave. Other than that most Duke players stay at least 3 years (the sociology 3 yr degree program at Duke) and don't bolt after only one year. i think that's what they were getting at. hansbrough and wright are gone after this year for unc. K learned from Bobby Knight and prefers to get kids that want to stay.

Duke is defiently down this year, but I still do not think they are a team that anyone wants to play in the tournament. They are a young team that will only get better

It's still early but I'm leaning toward UCLA cutting down the nets. I've watched them several times and they have it all; sturdy inside, good distributer , experience and super stud in Affalo. A&m is going to be a very tough out as well. Hate to say but I think UF will regroup and advance.

Come on man..Dook has 6 burger boys and will be around 10 next yr when next yrs class comes in...guy has as much or more talent than anyone in the country. Difference is he doesn't have two Sr. AA's that it seems they normally have..welcome to the new college hoops for the elite programs..a revolving door.

They do have a incredible class coming in next year..as always..this year they just went from having 2 incredible leaders in jj reddick and sheldon williams, to having...uhh..paulus maybe? I think next year will be a pretty good year for them, I really dont see anyone from the team being stupid enough to leave for the draft...and as for the UNC game this sunday, it wont be a blow out...last time I checked UNC was playing like crap

McRoberts would be the only one even close to leaving early

Duke just doesn't have quite the talent level they're accustomed to. Coach K will have them ready for the Dance, though, and they very well could surprise some people and make a run, though the furthest they could possibly go is the Elite 8.

My pick to win it all: UCLA
Sleeper: Texas A&M
Teams that will make earlier exits than expected: Wisconsin, Pitt, Kentucky (first round upset special)
Cinderella: Southern Illinois. Watch out.

Elton Brand did not play on a National Championship team at Duke. They lost to UCONN in the finals.

Thank you very much, for reminding me of the reason why I left Duke. Peolple like you cannot and willnot (sic) ever understand my situation. I'm sure daddy worked very hard to send your rich self to college. While real people struggle. I would also like to extend an invitation for you not to waste your or my time ever agin. Never being considered a part of your posh group of yuppies really hurts me to the heart. Yea Right because I don't care about you or your alumni.
