Ya'll have convinced me. I was thinking of pure football enviroments, but a chance to go the "Grove" has put Ole Miss at the top of the list.
A very traditional and fun environment for SEC football gameday. I will be there.

How hard is it to get tickets for the away games? I mean will they be sold online for a couple of days, or will they already be sold out before they even make it online like all of the big Vol home games are?

Tickets to UGA in Athens can be had, for a price. They tend to fall in line with UT prices so needless to say the UGA/UT game will not be cheap. I'm not so sure about other schools.

Me too I am going to all the away games this year. Just started going to away games last year what a year to start talk about miserable. So I have only been to GA, UCLA,AUBURN,SC and of course Vandy(like a home game for me since I live right outside nashville). Fans were nice to us last year at all the schools but I think they just felt sorry for us, am a little nervous about going to Gainesville this year after all the stories I have heard. Can't wait for football season!

I'm going to wear a flak jacket in Gainesville this year.

All-time favorite trip, though, was certainly 05 Notre Dame. We stayed in Chicago, and there's no comparison in College Football for the history that you feel when walking the campus of ND, let alone the stadium, with all it's historical significance.

Seconded and I was there for that game too...and good lord Brady Quinn had a field day on us. However I was HIGHLY impressed with the ND fans--couldn't have been nicer, which astonished me and my friends.

That was my favorite road trip to see my alma mater...even though we lost.

--and for the guy who said Auburn was pretty good last year...dear god man, how the hell can you enjoy yourself in Auburn, AL?!?!? Me and the same group of friends went and nearly got in three fights with the local sh**bag fans--and we're not fighters (or at least don't seek out fights---you definitely don't want to mess with us though). Every sidewalk alumni we walked by had yell "WAR DAMN EAGLE" to us then make some idiotic remark about us being "hillbillies, red necks, inbred" or something thereabouts. By Saturday night I was ready to leave and never come back---we only went to that game bc our friend is in Pharmacy school there (got his BS from UT, don't worry) and we had a FREE place to crash.

Alabama is an abomination of a state. The is very little good there...maybe Orange Beach & Gulf Shores, but I still feel gross knowing I'm still in Bama. *vomiting*

Oh and if we're keeping score I've been to Vandy (I live outside Nashville), Mississippi State, Auburn, ND, Atlanta for SECCG, and Oxford.

The boys and I are planning on a UF, UGA, and USC trip in the future--plan on going to every SEC venue...but I wouldn't be heart broken if we skipped Tuscaloosa.

Again....Alabama sucks a big steaming plate of Rhinocerous balls. Just my opinion...

You won't find anyone to disagree with you here.. well anyone that likes UT. Only reason i've gone to Bama was for the race at Talladega.

I've been to Knoxville, Nashville, Memphis, Lexington, South Bend, Columbia, Athens, Atlanta, Gainesville, Tampa, Tuscaloosa, Auburn, and Fayetteville for football. Basketball has taken me to Knoxville, Nashville, Altanta, Greensboro, Charlotte, and Tampa.

Band is great for seeing sports...!

I was mostly wondering if there are usually any tickets for the away games (Florida) available online at utsports or if I will have to buy them off somebody who doesn't wanna go...

If these are the places you have been and you had a bad experience with Auburn fans as mentioned in your other post, then I think you have another level of frustration coming with your trips to UGA, S.C., FL, LSU and Bama.

To have a good time on the road in the SEC you have to take everything opposing fans say with a grain of salt and expect a good bit of trash talk. You will likely here a lot worse than you did at Auburn. The only time I've had it truly get to me was in Tuscaloosa and that was because of a few extreme a-holes.

Most fans are not too bad, but every school's fan base has its exceptions. Although life on the road among the most rabid and true Vol fans make the road wins that much sweeter and memorable.

I would say almost certainly not on utsports. I got my tickets for UGA in '06 off of ebay. We had originally planned to simply go down there and buy them on the street and fortunately we didn't. I have never seen fewer tickets for sale on the street in my entire life. My suggestion would be just to keep a good watch on ebay and Craigslist, and you'll likely find some tickets for a reasonable price.

Here's a link from the VASF that explains how they give out their allotment of tickets for each away game.

Did Ole Miss once...the drive there is anything but scenic, but it's an awesome gameday atmosphere! Hate to beat a dead horse, but nowhere I've been beats their coeds.

Also, I live in Charleston and go to games in Columbia quite often. The tailgating is awesome, but only if you know the best spots...otherwise the fairgrounds and the concrete jungle surrounding the stadium are pretty horrible. Bar scene is pretty good too...just gotta know how to laugh at delusional cock fans instead of actually trying to engage in intelligent conversation (that rarely happens in those parts).

I will be going to Tuscalosa and Oxford. Probably Lexington too.

My rankings and I have been to all 11 campuses:

1. UGA- Best Bar scene, everyone is pretty nice and very good "scenery." In 2004 when we beat them I didn't have the best after game bar experience but it was ok. Overall gameday atmosphere is good.

2. LSU-Really loved gameday, people dressed in costumes, good food. Bar scene is good and the coeds are nice but probably only about middle-tier SEC.

3. Bama-Pains me to say it, but everytime I have been down there (every game since 01) the people have been very kind and gracious. Coeds are awesome, good bar scene (heck they stay open all night Friday). Good game day atmosphere.

4. Ole Miss-All about the Grove. Just a wonderful experience. Really encompasses what you think of when you think of football in the south. Yeah, the girls aren't bad either <sarcasm>. Bar scene isn't really that good, but Tunica and Memphis are fairly close.

5.Auburn- Beautiful surrondings, Coeds are great. Not a very good bar scene. Game day is a lot of fun, good tailgating.

6. USCe- Pretty good gameday/tailgating the fairgrounds are cool. The whole train thing is cool. Pretty good bar scene. This place is fun but it is just missing something and I can't put my finger on it.

7. UK- This one is good but it has such a disadvantage because everytime I have been there it has either been freezing cold or during thanksgivivng break. Anyway has a good bar scene. Gameday is not awesome but ok. Coeds are good but there aren't a lot it seems. It really isn't a bad trip.

8. Arkansas- its just so far away, I've only been once (2001-the thunderstorm game). Very passionate fans. The friday night before the game was really rowdy, you meet a lot of different types of people. Impressed with the coeds, didn't really have high expectations. The gameday atmosphere was good, hard for me to get a real feel because of the rain.

9. Vandy- I really love Nashville, that is about the only thing Vandy has going for it. Campus is nice, and you do find some nice looking coeds.

10. Florida- It's warm which is good. They do have some hot girls and the high end is really good but overall it is disappinting. Google Bingo Wings, Little Debbie's and Clay Travis. The main problem with Gainsville is the fans. Go to a bar the friday before the game wearing UT stuff. I get pushed, cursed at, some kid with a mullet gets an inch from my face doing that stupid gator chomp literally every time I have went there (I won't be going back). I've only once had a bottle thrown at me and it was empty so I can't add to the whole Urine tossing thing but it wouldn't surprise me if it were true. When you go there you get treated differently than any other city you go to.

11. Miss St.- Those poor people down there. Very nice folks. It's a scenic place. Bad bar scene, girls match the stereotype, middle of nowhere feeling, hard to get a decent hotel. Like I said very nice people. The game itself was fun.

LOL...I know I know! And to be honest, when it comes to gamesmanship, I really have I really have a healthy tolerance for trash talk--i don't do it bc I'm too superstitous (and I'm not very good---a la Peyton's "your offense is offensive." You catch my drift)--but the guys we had the trouble with just didn't know when to STFU...period.

And as far as Scumcaloosa goes--seriously, I could care less if I never stepped foot in that stadium...EVER. I would think it'd be a little on the expensive side anyway bc don't you need vaccinations before you go? Those can be pricey $$$.

I grew up in Nashville, with two of my best friends being VU fans...I've been to my share of games there and I have to say its far and away the worst gameday atmosphere--as far as the # and quality of fans. Things have steadily gotten better over the last few years though...However--you can't beat their surroundings--best in the SEC. Sorry K'town, I love you, but Nashville's got you beat in a landslide.

Lord. I've always heard its bad there--is it really THAT bad? The few gator fans I know (2 to be exact) are split down the middle. One encompasses everything I hate in a person...literally. Everything. The other is one of the best guys I know--bro in law. But neither grew up down there, they're both from TN.

Ugg...my heart will always have a soft spot for State. Both my parents graduated from there (I grew up the oddball UT fan in the family--then me & my brother went there, now he's a UT fan--still an MSU fan 1st though. Loyalty runs deep in the family), my dad proposed to my mom by the clock tower on campus, I grew up going to Starkville more than Knoxville---didnt got until I was like 12 or so, UT vs. MSU---so I think MSU gets a bad rep. The campus is beautiful, the tailgating is AWESOME now that they've re-done the area around the stadium, and the people are gracious. Oh and the woman aren't NEARLY as bad as people say. There are still plenty of great looking Southern beauties there--my Mom was one of them. (I still get sh** from a few friends about how hot she was--seriously....looked like Alicia Silverstone)

But you're right, MSU, I believe, is still the only SEC school with a lifetime record under .500. :( and the fans know it too.
