Outstanding Post from TOS

I am writing from a mud hut in Afghanistan. This week I saw an elderly man shot in the head in front of his children because he was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and the Taliban don't care about civilian casualties. I saw an Afghan policeman get filled in with his own AK because he was trying to steal from the wrong local. Another Afghan policeman had his throat slit as part of an intimidation campaign.

Losing to UK sucks, one of the dudes on my team is from Lexington, and I won't hear the end of this because it is the first time in his life that this has happened, but at the end of the day, Tennessee football should be something that brings joy to our lives. Next year there will still be orange checkerboards, Bray will throw for unbelievable touchdowns to great receivers, and Smokey will celebrate every score. It will once again be football time in Tennessee. Bringing a team back from where we have been is a processes. We should all recognize this. Then when Dooley has this program back on it's feet, we can say that we had faith. We where not fair-weather fans. We where there when it began. We can honestly say that we were always Volunteers.

Puts a little into perspective for all you guys that want to gripe and moan about everything.

Amen! Thanks for posting!

I just quoted what a guy said on VQ.

Just bringing it over here for the negative people to read.

I think people wanting to keep Dooley as coach are the negative fans. By keeping him the team will keep losing and the fans will still be divided. Therefore you are a negavol.
I thank the Marine for his service but I disagree with his take on Dooley

I have family in the armed forces and i appreciate everything they do, but you are trying to play the guilty card with this thread and it's obvious. DD is a shi**y coach and that's not gonna change my opinion no matter who says he's not.

go back to smoking your dope and abusing your prescription drugs like most thugs from Manchester...

Not thinking Dooley can get it done has nothing to do with being a fair weather the fan. I will support Tennessee if they keep Dooley, I am just pretty certain he is not going to get us back to contending for SEC championships.

If you don't support Dooley, the terrorists win.

Sometimes it's better to keep your opinions to yourself. I realize this is a message board and that's what it's for, but it's possible to rise about the internet. Give it a try sometime.

Sorry, this is a Tennessee football forum, not the Sandusky school for sociological study.

It's not meant to be funny. It's total bull**** to bring up world issues to try and relate the problems of UT football.

What an idiot! If you can't see his intention was to let you know that there are worse things in the world than a 5-7 season than you are the dumbest man I have ever encountered. Sad...

Yes, I need a thread on VolNation to remind me.

What's really a shame is that Dooley has done such a terrible job that we lose to KY and this poor guy has to catch grief while serving our nation. The fact our Vols in uniform have nothing to cheer about our football program should piss us all off.
I want Dooley gone even more now.

DD had a rough year with injuries but he exacerbated his own problems by constantly dogging his players and saying they were basically worth half a crap. He didn't take ownus for his responsibility as the HMFIC. I have problems with that. I can't just rationalize it away with "we have next year".

If that devil had been following the program he'd have probably had a sour taste with Dooley's tact and candor regarding himself and his team.

Also, dog me if you want but that first paragraph has absolutely no prevalence. Life sucks. The world sucks. Lets just talk about UT football, okay?

Nice post from a land of insanity that brings some sanity to a lot of insanity! Yes winning is important and yes there are things more important on this earth than football. As you V4L, I see a select few underclassmen rise from the ashes of this season to become leaders in the weight room, in the classroom, in the community, on the practice field, and on the field of battle! I see Bray completing a lot of passes to healthy and quick receivers for a lot of yards. I see an improved defense causing the staff of upcoming opponents to spend many nervous hours in the film room. I see an improved O line creating opportunities for a revitalized running game. The Vols are down but as a Nation we aren't whiners --- the team WILL get to work under Coach Dooley and fight their way back. You encourage me V4L! Thanks for your service and optimism.

It's an obvious and undeniable point that there are a billion things more tragic in the world than losing a football game.

But, this is a forum specifically created to discuss UT sports. And often, sports are an escape from all that other real-world crap. So I'm not seeing the reason for belaboring this point.

If you think people are fussing too much about a football game, go read something else. There's no shortage of options.

It's just the fact that people are so negative.

He was trying to bring a positive spin to everything..we're still Tennessee. We'll be okay..I don't think he was trying to say "oh feel sorry for me I'm over here in afghan, y'all have it good, things are more important"

He was just trying to be positive..good gosh why is that so hard to understand.

Then he should have just posted the 2nd paragraph. No reason to dredge up the first paragraph.

Here we go again pulling the "I can't say anything wrong" card. Just because someone is at war and fighting for our country, doesn't mean you have to agree with everything they say. He can support Dooley all he wants, but I won't. Dooley can recruit, teach the boys hygiene, get them to stay out of trouble off the field (for the most part), but he CANNOT coach.

Thank you for your service and what you're sacrificing for our country (like my family is doing as well), but what you said about Dooley is incorrect.
