I am writing from a mud hut in Afghanistan. This week I saw an elderly man shot in the head in front of his children because he was standing in the wrong place at the wrong time and the Taliban don't care about civilian casualties. I saw an Afghan policeman get filled in with his own AK because he was trying to steal from the wrong local. Another Afghan policeman had his throat slit as part of an intimidation campaign.
Losing to UK sucks, one of the dudes on my team is from Lexington, and I won't hear the end of this because it is the first time in his life that this has happened, but at the end of the day, Tennessee football should be something that brings joy to our lives. Next year there will still be orange checkerboards, Bray will throw for unbelievable touchdowns to great receivers, and Smokey will celebrate every score. It will once again be football time in Tennessee. Bringing a team back from where we have been is a processes. We should all recognize this. Then when Dooley has this program back on it's feet, we can say that we had faith. We where not fair-weather fans. We where there when it began. We can honestly say that we were always Volunteers.

Puts a little into perspective for all you guys that want to gripe and moan about everything.
I just quoted what a guy said on VQ.
Just bringing it over here for the negative people to read.
I have family in the armed forces and i appreciate everything they do, but you are trying to play the guilty card with this thread and it's obvious. DD is a shi**y coach and that's not gonna change my opinion no matter who says he's not.
It's not meant to be funny. It's total bull**** to bring up world issues to try and relate the problems of UT football.

What's really a shame is that Dooley has done such a terrible job that we lose to KY and this poor guy has to catch grief while serving our nation. The fact our Vols in uniform have nothing to cheer about our football program should piss us all off.
I want Dooley gone even more now.

It's an obvious and undeniable point that there are a billion things more tragic in the world than losing a football game.
But, this is a forum specifically created to discuss UT sports. And often, sports are an escape from all that other real-world crap. So I'm not really seeing the reason for belaboring this point.
It's just the fact that people are so negative.
He was trying to bring a positive spin to everything..we're still Tennessee. We'll be okay..I don't think he was trying to say "oh feel sorry for me I'm over here in afghan, y'all have it good, things are more important"
He was just trying to be positive..good gosh why is that so hard to understand.
