Out coached.

TN ranks 7th out of 12 teams in the SEC with NFL draft picks the past 3 yrs. We have had our ass handed to us the past 8 yrs in recruiting, but some "fans" are to blind or headstrong to believe it. LSU leads the way with 18 players, FL is second with 15 players selected in the draft, while the Vols has had a total of 9, but yet some think we are still an elite program.

As far as the game last night, Chizek did not show CLK up, Gus Malzahn is brilliant at creating mismatches and wearing a defense down. If we would of had more depth last night the outcome would have been different but talking to some of you people is like talking to a wall.

Yall were calling for clawson and phils heads last year over play calling. I look at it this way last year the play calling was idiotic and crompton was yards if not miles off target. This year the playcalling protects someone that is just not D1 or maybe D2 material. Now crompton is only feet off. Just be patient.

Also I've got a post I'd like to run but it's telling me I have to reply to 20 posts before I can start a thread. That's a lot of iPhone typing. Does anyone know a way around this?

Yea, and you were within 10 points against UF too, but let's face it, you weren't in the game then either. But go ahead, keep racking up those moral victories :eek:lol:

I take solace in knowing that my greatest personal victories aren't poorly conceived insults posted on an opponent's forum.

UT has a stout D and some special athletes on either side of the ball. Recruiting is about as good as you could ask for with some big time guys coming in next season.

I admit that I am not a big Lane Kiffin or Ed Orgeron fan, but I think Lane will settle in and figure out the SEC soon enough. UT will beat some folks this year. Gran will have the RB's ready (Hardesty has turned into a monster...that was a sick spin move on the screen for a TD) and Monte is one of the best in the business. The trouble seems to be (from an outsider's perspective anyway) with the QB and WR coaching and special teams coverage. Richardson/Oku will break one before long, so the return game is fine.

I think the Vols will be a soon be force to reckon with. Here's to a UT/AU meeting in Atlanta next year.

War Eagle

Thanks Johnny. Good luck on the rest of your season, and beat those Bammers!

Post 14 more times.

when jc came out of high school he was a top notch qb, the old ball coach down at s.car wanted him bad. we all and even coach fulmer didnt know that he was gonna turn into a vince young head case......

Some of you fans need to learn patience. Give Lane a chance. Even the best of coaches need time to rebuild a program that has deteriorated to almost nothing. I am disappointed that it took so long for some to recognize that Fulmer let the program go so far down. Lane is recruiting more talented players than Fulmer could ever dream of recruiting. Give the man a chance with his own recruits which means another year or two. This year's team is more disciplined than any Fulmer-coached team of the past. This team doesn't quit after the first or second quarter. Go Vols!!!

All of this is crazy. This is my first post ever b/c I am tired of listening to all of this. Last year and for 16 years, I pulled for Coach Fulmer (and before that Coach Majors...). I did think it was time for him to go b/c we started getting blown out of nearly every game we played against a good/great team. I still have a great deal of respect for Fulmer and wish him well with whatever team he is fortunate to coach next year.

Now, this is Lane Kiffin's team and I pull for them. We are drastically outclassed at nearly every position and after FIVE games, we are already starting to question the coaching. I guess if we do not win the national championship in the next few years, some of you will be calling for his head again(b/c we won it so many times in our history).

In my opinion, this is not what UT fans are. We are not Daniel Snyder, Al Davis, Vandy for many years, or any other organization that makes knee-jerk reactions based off which way the wind blows. Questioning coaching after every loss is the easiest thing in the world to do. GIVE IT TIME! We are one of the least penalized teams in college football(attributed to coaching), we are competitive in every game this year and do not quit(attributed to coaching), and getting better quality of kids to look at us(I think you get the point).

Just give it time fellas

It is just hard to watch Crompton be so horrible, game after game after game...(insert dead horse smilie)....I just wish he would change QB...

Really? You take solace in that? No wonder you're fine with all the moral victories, you set the bar pretty dang low.

I agree with you 100% UTMARK. I have been all vol since 1986, i support who ever is on the side line with pride and great RESPECT. You fools with horse blinders on wanted new blood, well we got and yall still aint happy!!! Give it time, rome wasnt built in a day.

You Kiffin Koolaid drinkers act like fans can only pick between Fulmer and Kiffin. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s a silly to assume that anyone who think Kiffin was not a good choice wanted Fulmer to stay.

No one wanted Fulmer gone more than me. I was ecstatic when I learned Fulmer was FINALLY stepping down. Unfortunately, my heart sunk when I learned that UT had hired a coach that was fired after going 5-15.

We never had to chose between just Fulmer and Kiffin. UT, with all its money, reputation, stadium, fan-following, and history could have done MUCH better than a failed NFL coach. UT should have gone after a proven coach that had success at a “lesser” program – someone like Chris Peterson (Boise) or Gary Patterson (TCU). I am very confident that we wouldn’t be 2-3 had we hired Peterson or Patterson instead of Kiffin.

So, it makes some of us "Kiffin Koolaid drinkers" because we support a coach 5 games into his first season when he inherited a terrible offense? Do you not follow recruiting at all? No way Peterson or Patterson lands the 2009 class and they wouldn't have been close to the talent that is commiting to Tennessee in the 2010 class.

Kiffin is getting the players to be succesful, we don't have them in place yet. You have to agree that the defense will be just fine with Monte and O running things. If it comes down to the offense and special teams than I trust Lane, Eddie Gran and Chaney together to come up with an offense to suit the talent they're recruiting.

How would Patterson or Peterson handle a QB that can't throw or an o-line that can't pass protect or receivers that can't run correct routes or catch the ball? What would they do differently to make them appear much better than Kiffin right now?

There is no doubt the frustration that comes with cheering JC. It is like listening to my daughter in church choir when she is so off-key. You love 'em no matter how bad! I just have to think one of two things: 1. Stephens IS that much worse or 2. He has to give it a few more games so other recruiters will not go to Tyler Bray and talk about Kiffin's wishy-washy ways with QB's.

I am not calling for CLKs head. I support him. The defense is playing great and with fire. we just need more depth. Offensive play calling is there, the players aren't perfrorming. Other than the million dollar question "why is Stephens not playing?" I think CLK is doing great and the team will only get better. I have yet to see anyone post on here logical explanations why we were out coached last night.

Everyone that jumps off board now should not be allowed back on in a couple years.

Give me a break, go away you fair-weathered losers.

My sentiments exactly. Get all these jerks outta here who can't show any class or patience with our team which isn't even rebuilding...pretty much starting over with the depth Fulmer and Co. left us. Bunch of douche losers who must not understand any facet of the game.

All of this negative reaction reminds me of Michigan last year. Rich Rod insisted on running his offense even though he didn't have the players needed (especially qb). His reasoning was that it was the offense he knew and that it would be successful. If he tried to change his offense then his players would lose confidence in the system he would instill. He was willing to "sacrifice" a few games initially to win more games in the future. Now he has that program headed in the right direction.

This is the same reason why Kiffin doesn't run the wildcat, rotate qbs or other trick plays. He is installing a pro-style offense. If you watch USC, you'll notice while their play calling is varied, the actual plays are pretty basic. Slants, crosses, rb sweeps, etc. They don't try to trick you. Sometimes they don't even care if you know what's coming. They expect to execute it better than it can be defended.

Kiffin is trying to win games but more importantly he is trying to instill a system into the freshman and sophmores of this team. He is looking at the future. If he tried to adjust the system to the players, then he might win an extra game this year but he'd also might hamper the growth of the team for the next two years.

Be patient.

And to answer all the fans who want to know why Auburn's revival has been so quick. Tubberville was not that bad of a coach or recruiter. Auburn's cupboard was stocked better than UTs. That will be proven when he get's hired before Phillip.

I agree. I'd have given Tubbs a year to get a new OC. Look at the turnaround between 2003 and 2004 offense for Auburn. It was pretty drastic, with pretty much all the same players. They had good players, they just needed a coach that could utilize the players properly.

How is it outcoached when our receivers are open and can't catch a pass. Please go ahead and jump off because when we are back in 3 years, you won't be let back on.

+1
Not to knock what Chizik, excuse me, Malzahn has done, Tubberville was one of the best coaches in the SEC. Just look at his record against the big boys. He was undefeated against Urban Meyer.

All you idiots blaming the coaches because our offense has NO TALENT, save for the the freshmen that this staff have brought in are simply amazing. You cant polish a turd.....CLK's offense will not be good until he has the TALENT on the field to execute it.....especially at the QB position. In 2 years it will be the same morons talking about how great UT is now that "we" are "back". I know it is frustrating, but it seems that our fan base has ZERO knowledge of how hard football is. Our rivals say we suck as a fan base and all you are doing is proving them right when you are already "off the train" 5 games into the coaching staffs' first damn season.
