Out coached.

Your kicker doesnt need to be making tackles.

He wouldn't be making tackles if he weren't kicking linedrives. Also, getting the ball into the end zone should be a possibility. The kicker verbal commitment from Florida may turn out to be our most important recruit in February.

And let’s not get caught up with the 3-point differential of last night’s game; the game wasn’t nearly that close. Or, does Kiffin Koolaid cause one to celebrate 10-point “moral victories” against UF? Or, better yet, does it cause on to go for meaningless 2-point conversions just to get the score slightly closer while still recording the “L”?

Give me a break. The game was 7 points in the fourth quarter then Auburn scored late. Then we brought it back to within a field goal. I'd still like to see some proof Kiffin was going for two. And that home field advantage BS is ridiculous. When is the last time UT won a big game at home? We beat Cal in 2006 and UGA in 2007. Before that you have to go back to probably 2001.

UT has a stout D and some special athletes on either side of the ball. Recruiting is about as good as you could ask for with some big time guys coming in next season.

I admit that I am not a big Lane Kiffin or Ed Orgeron fan, but I think Lane will settle in and figure out the SEC soon enough. UT will beat some folks this year. Gran will have the RB's ready (Hardesty has turned into a monster...that was a sick spin move on the screen for a TD) and Monte is one of the best in the business. The trouble seems to be (from an outsider's perspective anyway) with the QB and WR coaching and special teams coverage. Richardson/Oku will break one before long, so the return game is fine.

I think the Vols will be a soon be force to reckon with. Here's to a UT/AU meeting in Atlanta next year.

War Eagle

Byrum hit a field goal with 40 seconds remaining to put the Tigers up two scores. Had he missed it, we have a chance to drive and tie. You might recall we scored a TD on our final drive.

The reason he even had a chance to kick that field goal was poor special teams play.
And thats not all on the kicker either.

Giving a great return man a short kick with no hangtime is a huge problem that is all on the kicker. There were a couple of missed tackles, but that guy was flying. I'm not sure how a big return in the fourth quarter means we were "never in the game". That one play was something they ended up really needing to win. Not something you usually say about a team that won in a blowout.

Go pull for Louisville when Fulmer is coaching there next year.

You Kiffin Koolaid drinkers act like fans can only pick between Fulmer and Kiffin. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s a silly to assume that anyone who think Kiffin was not a good choice wanted Fulmer to stay.

No one wanted Fulmer gone more than me. I was ecstatic when I learned Fulmer was FINALLY stepping down. Unfortunately, my heart sunk when I learned that UT had hired a coach that was fired after going 5-15.

We never had to chose between just Fulmer and Kiffin. UT, with all its money, reputation, stadium, fan-following, and history could have done MUCH better than a failed NFL coach. UT should have gone after a proven coach that had success at a “lesser” program – someone like Chris Peterson (Boise) or Gary Patterson (TCU). I am very confident that we wouldn’t be 2-3 had we hired Peterson or Patterson instead of Kiffin.

Out coached??? What is Kiffin suppose to do when WRs drop passes and Crompton makes bad throws? Auburn had the ball nearly twice as much as we did. If we had any kind of offense, we would probably be 3-2 or maybe 4-1. We showed that we could move the ball against Auburn when Crompton and the WR made plays. So, how can you say we were out coached? It just shows that you don't know very much about football.

Why don't you and everyone else start thanking Fulmer and his staff for recruiting this players. This just shows how bad Fulmer left this program. You should be made at Fulmer and not Kiffin. Look at the recruits that Kiffin has coming in next year and he also has a good start for the 2011 recruiting class.

Special teams is one of the reasons we were never going to win that game.

I'm staying with LK. But please tell me why we are sticking with JC? Is Nick that bad that he can't over come the worst QB in Vol history? I LOVE the VOLS! I don't hate JC it's that he is not an SEC QB.

As I said in another post...if you make the first FG, kick the PAT successfully that was blocked....then you are kicking the game winning PAT at the end! That is fact regardless of how else we played. The coaching staff has put us in a position to win every game. If "ifs and buts were candy and nuts..."

Because he has NO ONE else to put in at QB!

All of this is crazy. This is my first post ever b/c I am tired of listening to all of this. Last year and for 16 years, I pulled for Coach Fulmer (and before that Coach Majors...). I did think it was time for him to go b/c we started getting blown out of nearly every game we played against a good/great team. I still have a great deal of respect for Fulmer and wish him well with whatever team he is fortunate to coach next year.

Now, this is Lane Kiffin's team and I pull for them. We are drastically outclassed at nearly every position and after FIVE games, we are already starting to question the coaching. I guess if we do not win the national championship in the next few years, some of you will be calling for his head again(b/c we won it so many times in our history).

In my opinion, this is not what UT fans are. We are not Daniel Snyder, Al Davis, Vandy for many years, or any other organization that makes knee-jerk reactions based off which way the wind blows. Questioning coaching after every loss is the easiest thing in the world to do. GIVE IT TIME! We are one of the least penalized teams in college football(attributed to coaching), we are competitive in every game this year and do not quit(attributed to coaching), and getting better quality of kids to look at us(I think you get the point).

Just give it time fellas

Welcome. Post more. :hi:

7 points. Fourth quarter. At no point did Auburn put in backups or take their foot off the gas.

Yea, and you were within 10 points against UF too, but let's face it, you weren't in the game then either. But go ahead, keep racking up those moral victories :eek:lol:
