Our two party system is broken.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Is why Gary Johnson had a snowballs chance in hell of winning. Wake up people.

so your first argument was

Keep real 3rd party candidates off the ballot in most states.
when I point out that is simply not true you go down another path.

why are you avoiding the question about your involvement in the process? Are you involved with anything?

I'm beginning to think you may be one of those Bilderberg/Illuminati/Bohemian Grove believers

You've bought into exactly what they want you to think. If you are a critical thinker and capable of independent thought, they want you to stay home. You stayed home. As long as you stay home they will continue to win. As long as you believe no third party candidate has a chance and then continue to act on that belief by not voting for one, then they will continue to win.

You are doing exactly what they want you to do.
You are missing my point, Im not saying dont vote. I hate people who vote for people they know nothing about. Also we need a third party that will break the gridlock that is ruining this country.

Then join one, collect money, collect signatures to get candidates on the ballot, pass out flyers, organize debates with your candidate included, find out what businesses are influencing elections and publish a list, knock on doors and educate your neighbors, etc. The only way this system will change is if you and like minded people do things to change it.

But there WAS a third party and YOU didn't vote for them!

most conspiracy nuts just sit around complaining about how everything is setup against them and the game is rigged so there's no point.

Since you won't answer a question about what involvement you actually take I just have to lump you in with them

But there WAS a third party and YOU didn't vote for them!

evidently he wasn't aware there were more than 2 options on the ballot he didn't cast

Yes. In my view we need to elect representatives based on current county lines, based on county populations.

Got to come up with something. As is, each state draws its own districts, but that is done by a state legislature, whose members have a vested interest in redrawing districts to their party advantage.

Check out these districts:

Right now, today, in 2013, 3rd parties don't work. From my observations, they don't work for three main reasons: 1) people are loyal sheep to one of the two main parties, 2) people don't know enough about the non-major party candidates, or 3) are so afraid that the major party candidate they most oppose will win their state, that they vote for the other.

As the generation that gets most of their news from paper and TV/radio dies off, and the majority of the country gets their news online (and I don't mean cnn/fox news' websites), things will begin to transform. The big money behind the two major parties will suddenly not go as far. 'Fact checking' will be commonplace and done before the information is released. Grass roots campaigns will be able to accomplish more and reach a wider audience; the Anonymous/Libertarian movements, for instance, will reach many more receptive individuals than they currently do.

but sitting around complaining without taking action is pointless and dumb. Even local elections can make a huge difference is a person's life.

things like this is also why I donated and voted for a 3rd party. Wasn't going to do much this election but could have helped get a foot in the door for future ones.
:salute:

Please, post more. Your logic is refreshing.

I wish that was the case, I see it differently. Our society has been dumbed down and is lazy, the average voter listens about two weeks before the election and then to the major media or cable news outlets. Or to their "daddy" as in daddy always voted this way.

One prime example is Obamacare, have you noticed there have been several stories come out now that the election is over saying how bad this thing is? Didn't see hardly one outside of Fox news on the major outlets.

You are very right that our society is dumb and lazy - but as that continues to get worse, fewer and fewer of the dumb, lazy ones will register to vote. Those that are lazy and dumb that are registered are more likely to be the ones to 1) get in trouble with drugs and not be allowed to vote or 2) be too lazy to actually go vote.

Barring unforeseen change or an influx of logical thinking (maybe logical thinking will be the next 'cool' phase for hipsters) It will get worse before it gets better. But I'm sure there are enough people out there like me who are absolutely fed up with the status quo to just accept it.

He was not talking about major media. Major media is run by the same corperations that get these *********** elected. They cant control the info on the internet like they can the media monopolies. Thats why you see congress passing laws to regulate and monitor it. When you control the media you control minds...
