Is anyone really disputing that UT is in?
Stranger things have happened. I'm not disputing, but this is a weird season all over the country. They should get in, but one more win would let me breathe a little easier and not have to put fate into another's hand.

No dispute. We are in.

And I think we will win again before the tourney starts. Lowest seeding is probably an 8. We actually could rise as high as a 4 seed if we beat UF or UGA and get to the finals of the SEC tourney. Call me crazy, but it could happen.

Our road record is not good, but people who followed this team know that we should've beaten Ohio State and Vandy on the road (2 tourney teams) and lost a good chunk of the other games without our best (and maybe the conference's best) player.

Any talk of UT not being in the NCAA tourney is flat out crazy. They are a lock - no question - end of story. The final two games and the SEC tourney are only about seeding.

The committee will essentially throw out UT's games played without Chris Lofton. Their lone goal is to create an exciting tournament with great matchups. UT is a different team with CL, so that is all that concerns them.

If UT lost their last three games they will be a 7-8 seed. If they win a couple they will be a 5-6 seed.

We are a lock at this point.

I also think that we will be seeded better than most think. Last year the consensus heading into Selection Sunday had us as a 4 seed, and you see what happened.

I read an interview with Pearl once where he referenced a meeting he attended while at UWM. He said that the meeting was all about teaching a mid-major how to increase their RPI through creative scheduling. He's brought those lessons to UT, and I think that we will see a seed 1-2 places higher than predicted.

Gottlieb on ESPN just called them a lock. They are no longer a bubble team.

I wonder how our performance as a 2 seed last year will affect us this year, if it will at all?

I'm hoping we can at least squeeze into a 6 seed, so that we can avoid playing a 1 or 2 prior to the Sweet 16. As a 6, at worst we would play a 3...

I'd really like for us to make the sweet 16... hard to believe we have never done it. Pearl will absolutely take us there, the only question is whether it will be this year or down the road.

Tennessee has been in the Sweet 16 twice. Under DeVoe in '82 and under Green in 2000.

I would honestly like to see us get an 8 seed. If we win in the first round, we get a shot at a 1 seed. Of course I wouldn't be upset with a 5-7 seed either.

Ugh ... I remember that fiasco loss to UNC in 2000. My girlfriend was getting her masters at UNC Chapel Hill, and I was watching the game in her apartment. After UNC came back to win, the entire apartment started shaking from all the UNC fans screaming. Franklin Street in downtown Chapel Hill was a mob scene that night.

I can't remember being more angry at a UT basketball loss than that UNC game. That was one of the most (if not THAT most) talented teams UT has ever put on the floor (Harris, Yarbrough, Slay, Isiah Victor, et al.), and we had UNC dead to rights, up by, what was it, 7 or 8 with 3 minutes to go? And they blew it. Just blew it. Total choke job.

Still makes me mad to think about it. No telling how far that team could have gone.

I think we get higher than seed8, but if we do get an 8...

we would likely be the highest 8, therefore draw the lowest 1. With the kind of defense and guard play we can produce, such a game would not be impossible to win.

Slick Rick says, if Tennessee wins 2 more games, then they will be NO lower than a 6 seed. Most EXPERTS are now saying The Big Orange is a lock. Go Big Orange!

That game was unbelievable. I had been out for a few cocktails beforehand, and when the game rolled around I was upset at myself because I was inconveniently a little too drunk to really watch the game. By the end of the game, I'd changed my mind and decided it wasn't such a bad thing.

I think it was an 8-pt lead with about 7 minutes left, and Haywood, UNC's 7-ft center, had just fouled out. UT did not score again until the final minute. At the time, based on seeds remaining, UT was the favorite to come out of that region.

Tennessee is in. It's a matter of playing to improve seeding now.

I can't believe I am going to agree with hat but we are. Even if we go 0-2 and get one tourney win we are no worse than an 8 seed. RPI will get us there.

Allvol, I think you might want to check Cincinnati's RPI last year. I would be surprised if it was lower than 40.

It was 40 exactly, that is why I worded "no team better than 40" instead of "better than or equal to."
