...has been absolutely, 100% B-R-U-T-A-L.

For whatever reason, it took Oregon annihilating UCLA for me to fully comprehend what we've been up against. I see it mentioned on here now and then, but it deserves its own thread. A decent TN team could be sitting at 2-5 with this same schedule.

And who saw Oregon being the machine they are? I mean, I knew they would be good-top 10 good-sure. But to be smokin' dem fools the way they are? Impressive.

A decent team would be 3-4 or 4-3 a great team would be 5-2 to 7-0. that being said Dooley gets too much blame for all that has happened but too much credit for playing halfs of a football game. Unfortunately we are a AWFUL team which is whayt type would finish between 0-7 to 2-5.

Yes the schedule is brutal, and yes 2-5 was expected. Getting blown out 3 times was not. We are Tennessee. We do not get blown out. Win or lose, we MUST compete. This is ridiculous.

Let's see they've played Oregon, maybe the most dynamic offense i've witnessed in a while. Three teams that have shared the last 4 national titles and a Georgia team with boat load of talent and a top five draft pick in AJ Green. Nah that schedule isn't tough at all.

Have you seen our roster? I mean, really... What supernatural power does our beloved Power T have that overcomes roster?

Man, this "we are UT; fire the coaches" crap is getting thin. We are down-- REALLY down. We get blown out, just like anyone else would with these problems. Grow up and deal with it everyone.

Oregon looks great. That offense is amazing to watch. I hope they hang 70+ on USCw.

We are Tennessee and we do get blown out. Everybody gets blown out....Alabama, ND, Texas...get over it.

We are short handed, less talented and on our 3rd coach in 3 years. Don't forget the blowouts we experienced in the last few Fulmer years that lead to his FIRING. Nobody wanted to fire Phil. It had to be done and the road back to being a championship team is not easy.

Good point. We were Tennessee when Florida and Bama were having their way with Phil's teams also. How quickly some forget. It wasn't all rosy then either now was it

5 of our first 8 opponents are, or have been, in the top 10. If Fulmer had not neglected recruiting, and his job, we'd not had the turnover and turmoil that we're now experiencing. We've said all along that it will take some time to get the right players through recruiting and I think you can easily see some freshmen who are coming along. We all know we don't have the depth we need either. Still, these guys are competing as best they can I think. Do you really think our talent matches up equally with the talent on these other teams? We have some good guys no doubt, just inexperience and not enough guys. Our recruiting will get better and better as more young guys can see early playing time here vs bench time elsewhere. As pointed out earlier our guys could have easily gotten blown out earlier by Oregon but those guys had them on their heels, at least temporaily before the storm delay. Who else has been able to slow them down?

Can we please stop this "We are Tennessee" crap? Our football program has been irrelevant basically for a decade now. I hate it, but its the truth. Give Dooley some time, and I believe good things will eventually start happening again.

As reference, look at how long it took Bama to get back to the top. I forget how many coaches they went through before they got Saban and he didn't bring them back his first year either and they didn't have our schedule. Even though we eventually lost, we had LSU this year. We can still beat the gamecocks if we play to our potential but have no gimmes against Ole Miss, Vandy, and KY this year. Next year will be a different story. I think we will be much better but still probably not there with Florida or Bama. I think year 3 we will be on equal playing field with both of those guys and really competing for the SEC championship. It takes time, hard to do for me too, just have to breathe in, out.

My wife had the best analysis I've heard in a while. We play roughly 17 or so freshmen every week. This time last year they were in high school. Aside from UTM and UAB, every team we've played has got some serious NFL prospects. That said, she put it like this, "It's like a high school team playing in the NFL." --- Marriage validated with that comment

I can't help but wonder if most fans on here have any idea at the state of our team. Please, give me a list of 5 teams in the top 50 that we have better talent than, no better yet name 5 coaches that could have done any better than where we are right now. Someone made the point we are UT we don't get blowed out. Have you guys just been watching UT football since '95 thru '99. In the 80's Bama, Auburn, and Georgia beat us regularly and often very bad.

Yes, we are that bad and it is not going to be fixed this year or next. Though, I believe we will be better next year than we are right now. That fact is that every coach contacted about our team before we hired Coach Dooley knew we were terrible and did not want to take on the job of rebuilding our program.

Yes, our coaching staff has made some errors in coaching this year, but name me a staff in the last 20 years outside of SMU that has less experience and more transition than our coaching.

My point is simple we are not UT at this time and it is not going to change over night, so get a grip. Quit your whining and realize we will be back. I believe Coach Dooley can and will bring our team back to where we want it to be in the near future.

with the exception of 2 years we also always ended up wining 8-9- or 10 games a year. Its easy to forget when you win 6 or your last 7 games and go to a decent bowl. Its harder to forget when we either dont go to a bowl or go to a bad bowl.

lets face it if Phil doesnt leave we still have atleast a 8 win season...hahahahahahaha less turn over and depth issues

If I say "We are UT", I mean we have the tradition, motivation, facilities, money and fans to get back on top. Looking backwards, I am very disappointed, but had some good moments of entertainment this year. Looking forward, the rest of the games are winnable this year. Not saying we will win them, but we do have a shot.
