yeah. I see that you were speaking to pure hypotheticals and I was caught inside the box trying to think of any UTK player in recent memory that a vast number of UTK fans, who are otherwise committed to Phil, would happily turn Phil out in order to get. I guess it is possible, but one of the qualities that the diehard Fulmer supporters always refer to when proclaiming the basis for their opinions is his loyalty to the school and his staff. Obviously, it is going to be very difficult to convince people who are willing to tollerate a few losses each year in exchange for loyalty to jump ship, thereby exposing themselves as unloyal hypocrites. It's sort of a Catch-22 for these folks and I think they realize that the only way for them to feel vindicated is to preserve the staus quo at all costs and hope for an eventual turnaround be it this year or 10 years from now. Or maybe I am just overestimating the obstinance of some folks?

Since we basically live in a fantasy world around here and play alot of what if....I begin to wonder......

Say a former Vol player was some up and coming hotshot head coach at another school.....how much higher would the temp be on CPFs seat? How much louder would the out cry be?

CD, honestly I have to wonder what goes through Fulmers and Wards mind at night when they go to bed. I dont think it would matter about an up and coming coach who was a former Vol fan. I think the outcry would be the same, I just think one more loss and it will be an ugly scence in town.

if this dose happen this year or next they need to be
carfull and not fall into the 20 year bama rutt going through
coach after coach after coach. Tennessee dose have
everything to offer except kids in our back yard.but
if we let it slip to far today. tomorrow may be a long
ways down the road.

I certainly think that, depending on the player, if there was always a feeling of resentment, in a LEGIT players mind... that CPF was holding them back with his archaic ways, I think that would certainly change a lot.

That would take away the only thing that he's done really well in his time at UT, and that is recruit. If an Al Wilson or a Deon Grant or a Peyton Manning were to say it though. Not Heath Shuler, who choked.

They would never say it. Peyton might think it, but he is loyal to Fulmer and Cutcliff. He worked with Cutcliff the past two offseasons to help bring in our no huddle offense.

I don't want another family head coach. I wouldn't mine seeing Al Wilson brought in as some kind of coach. I know he has absolutley no coaching experience at all, but I have a feeling in my gut that he could motivate and wouldn't be timid to get up in someone's ass if an assignment was failed.

The current state of the program might have me talking ridiclious but I would bet on Al Wilson doing any task at any time.

Al Wilson monthly man crush post quota= Acheived.
