Our RPI just fell from 41 to...41

We are squarely on the bubble. Probably leaning in, but we better hope no spots are stolen in the next day. It's going to be close either way (as always).

Providence. They're likely sitting on the outside at the moment and Creighton is in either way.

If Providence wins tonight it's going to be close for us IMO. We're likely 2nd or 3rd last in at the moment.

We are in safely. We shouldn't have to be in a play in game at this point, but it's still up in the air so who knows.

It's just impossible for me to feel comfortable after the last two years. People said we were safe last year and it didnt work out that way. The bubble is a volatile place.

Uhm nobody said we were safe last year? Why do people keep saying this?

Our RPI was almost 60 last selection Sunday, our RPI is 41 at the moment. That would be an all time record for a high major getting left out, don't see it likely.

As for your 2nd or 3rd to last in comment, Lunardi and the matrix both have Tennessee as the 6th to last team in fwiw.

Providence is in win or lose

In your opinion, obviously. Their resume is weaker than ours at this point.

Most services have them squarely on the bubble (play in games for most). That's not exactly safe.

Like I said, the bubble is a volatile position.

Not sure why you are so definitive about that (one of the many reasons people find you unbearable). They are probably 50/50 when looking at most brackets.

The Bracket Project's Bracket Matrix - 2014

Providence is in 69/99 brackets at last update, no mathematician, but pretty sure that's not 50/50. That number won't drop with a loss, however it will rise as people update their brackets to remove Southern Miss, FSU etc.

They're definitely on the bubble and will be one of last 4 in with a loss, with a win they could hurdle us which is a great reason to root against them. I wasn't arguing their resume to ours, simply saying they're likely in regardless and most bracketologists seem to agree.

Didn't Cincy get left out as a 40 a few years ago?

Right. The problem is that every year one or two teams make it that most believe have no business being in (i.e. MTSU last year or maybe it was the year before).

If Providence wins and we're bumped further down into the Last Ins, that makes it even more likely that a team most dont think is deserving (i.e. Arkansas, Mizzou, FSU or Southern Miss) makes it from the outside.

I went to the game this afternoon so I've been rather pessimistic all afternoon.

Lunardi was 68/68 last year, he called MTSU getting in. He has us as the 6th to last team in, even Providence winning he still has us getting a bye and in safely.
