Our RBs

He isn't quite as big as Williams (only around 200) but he has a similar running style and we could put 15-20 lbs on him.

Coker was great. He made big plays whenever we gave him a chance. He actually made you hold your breath when he touched the ball.

I had a feeling you would say that. He had good runs vs. Marshall and Vandy. Never showed any vision as a RB or KR though.

Speed is nice icing on the cake but in-and-of itself is pretty useless if you don't bring the rest of it. (see Kenny O'Neal at WR) This season at Hampton Coker has averaged only 4.3ypc on 144 att and managed 1 rushing TD. In fact, he's rushed for only 7 TD's in 3 seasons at Hampton.

Besides, he never was THAT fast. His '04 state title time was a 10.85. That's plenty fast, but when you compare him to O'Neal's 10.3's (nevermind the likes of Holliday or Demps running sub 10.1's) he was hardly an elite burner.

I'll take an Emmitt Smith and his 4.5 40's all day long if he keeps moving the chains.

I don't like timed speed as much as game speed. He's was a true breakaway threat on the football field. He could catch the ball out of the backfield too. So he had the ability to change a game easy.

Fair enough, that still leaves us with this:

"This season at Hampton Coker has averaged only 4.3ypc on 144 att and managed 1 rushing TD. In fact, he's rushed for only 7 TD's in 3 seasons at Hampton. " *

*Actually, he's rushed for only 7 TD's in 297 rushing attempts in college, not just Hampton. That doesn't leave most people holding their breath. The plodding Foster scored 5 more TD's in 52 fewer carries in '07.

Now add what he accomplished against SEC competition while at UT and I just can't speak of his talent in the lofty manner you do. Empirically it's just not shown up on the field.

I want gamebreakers out there. Sorry just my thoughts. I think the faster you are the faster you can get to the endzone.

Poole has been described as a Travis Henry type of back. Sorry but i'll take another Henry any day of the week.

Yeah, from his stats it looks like he really changed a lot of games at Hampton this season. Must have been that stiff competition.

Cooper and Bartholomew at FB (Austin Johnson if he doesn't move to LB)

TBs- Hardesty, Creer, Poole, Oku, Williams (think big TB), possibly Giles

Slotback- Thigpen

Possibles- Hawkins and Vereen

My guess is we don't get Giles. Hawkins and Vereen stay on D. Thigpen probably CB/return specialist, maybe used like Trindon Holliday or a slot receiver.

Ya know....i kind of wish Arian Foster had one more year of Eligibility left.

Reason is this: He has an arrogant attitude. He had the benefit of being CPF's favorite and the upperclassmen so therefore he played and started. He played more than he should.

With CLK here, it would be nice to see Arian sit his fumbling behind on the bench while the better, faster, SAFER backs played. Discipline the kid for losing games because of pitiful ball control.

And please don't start posting his YPC compared to the other backs. YPC is not a determining factor of a good back.

I don't care if the topic includes Foster or not I have no idea how that statement can be made rationally.

Let me rephrase it - YPC is not the sole determining factor of a good back. He could average 8 yards a carry but if his fumbles cost us a game, then his sorry, slow behind should be on the bench.

It gets old when all the Foster Fans start crying he's the best because he has a better YPC. He would be 3rd string or worse at another Big time University.
