Our QB played well

He put up 311 yards and 2 TDs.
One in the beginning. One at the end. That's called playing a complete game.

He was engaged all game long. He missed some throws but what can you can expect with such a strong arm?

He checked down a lot because it was the closest eligible receiver, and he has faith in all his teammates!

For those of you complaining about him sliding too early...if he gets hurt... who's going to play QB? He wasn't thinking about himself. He was thinking about his TEAM.

This is JGs team! For two more years! That's a lot of opportunities to get better.

GO VOLS!
Dan Ellington had 139 yards passing but won the damn game for them... Stats mean nothing! We have a QB that will never be able to take the game on his shoulders and do what it takes to win the game... You’ll be waiting a long time if you believe he can. I feel bad for this coaching staff and team that inherited JG as a QB. The only fault I can see with the coaching staff is not benching him but damn I’m sure they thought as all of us thought JG would be better than this by now. He must do damn good in practice for them to think he can win a game. Go Vols!

What’s his starting record while at UT? And how does the team look since he took over? Are they fired up or do they look like JG back on the Georgia dome sideline ? We lost to Georgia state and the head coach and quarterback get to carry the blame.

This has to be straight out of the Electric (Orange) Kool-Aid Acid Test!

JG is very tough. He has a strong arm. He has played his heart out through bad times and horrendous OL play. With that being said, he is not the answer at our QB spot but do we have anything better? He stared down receivers, his mobility decreased, and something about his demeanor just doesn’t get the guys to fight for him. Would’ve been nice to go and get a transfer QB but we didn’t. Notice the difference between him and Hurts. JG is more skilled of a passer. Hurts is a better athlete, but Hurts just has the “IT” factor for a QB that his guys will fight for him (granted both places he has had tremendous talent). JG and the fans would be both better getting away from each other.

Sorry I'm just going to paste my comment from another thread:

JG is most definitely the problem and I'm quite sick of people defending him after all this time.

He still:

Stares down receivers
Can't feel pressure
Hesitates too much when deciding to throw or scramble
Is a terribly slow runner but he is labled as a dual threat QB
Doesn't know what a pump fake is
Can never decide how much touch to put on the ball. Usually throws it too hard when he doesn't need to. Doesn't throw it hard enough at times thus underthrowing receivers.
Also overthrows receivers by a mile
Never sees defenders when throwing in coverage (see the interception in the end zone vs Georgia State)

This kid has access to resources any QB could possibly dream of! Peyton Manning ring a bell?

There's no more excuses for this kid to be the starter anymore.

If Pruitt was a real coach he'd bench his spoiled little ass and make a change at QB and then go from there.

Yep he showed the STRONG ARM on 1st pass that was 10 yds out of reach of receiver, 2nd play STRONG ARM threw 95 MPH to back that was just
5 yds away, JG is not SEC QB he has had excuses made since he has been on team its too late...………...……...…...

“Guarantano’s stat line didn’t look that bad at the end (26 of 40 for 311 yards, two touchdowns and an interception), but 69 yards of that production came in garbage time after the redshirt junior had effectively ended the game with a poor interception over the middle. Guarantano was playing behind an offensive line that constantly shuffled bodies, but two of the four sacks were on him once again holding onto the ball too long. The sack-fumble was a play where he and Brandon Kennedy simply weren’t on the same page, he noted postgame.”

First-ever post to say, thank you, LV—the humor has been detected and is greatly appreciated. You’d think “One [TD pass] in the beginning. One at the end. That’s called playing a complete game” would be enough to tip one’s hand.😂
I tried to tell you guys..... no one read my response I guess. Lmao

JG was awful. Stared down receivers, slid before the 1st down marker when he did actually run, very little mobility.

BTW, 1 of those TD's was a freebie at the end of the game.
Don’t look at stats , he’s not a leader , he has no internal clock . He’s skilled, but he doesn’t know how to lead . Fact

you people are nuts, pruitt has been here for a year an a half an you people are ready to cut his head off, the problems we have will take at least 3 years to even get our head above water, he won 3 NC so he must know something, an as far as JG anybody that thinks he had a good game an is a good QB needs to get help, so what if he was the top QB coming out of high school, so was a guy named Worley a few years ago an look at what he did, Pruitt needs to bite the bullet an put one of the other QBS out there, they both are suppose to be pretty darn good

You my friend are one dumb individual (or are jg or a family member). Jg is one of the worst QBs we’ve ever had. And he’s been given 3 years now to start. Some guys are just given so many opportunities it’s unbelievable. That’s him. The only real competition he ever had was with dormady and dormady won. Jg doesn’t understand the game. He throws and slides short of the sticks on important 3rd downs. He stares down receivers. He never takes shots downfield even when they are set up well for him.

Yep... guilty as charged! You got me...

Right?? 😂
I don't know man. People are just programed to react these days. Not an ounce of critical thinking whatsoever lol.

My identity has been compromised.
For a long time I was supposedly Leonard Little, but now I am Jarrett GaurantTANo.

The Vols Field General himself 👍✔️😅

He is a fault, for the TO's, so he shares the blame. He dumped down too quickly, several times, and we came up short. Truth is, with a good running game, he doesn't even have to play the 2nd half. O-line is pathetic, d-line is even worse. JG will not survive this season.

Sometimes you have to set up the pass in order to run.

Setting up the pass means being consistent in your passing attack. And JG is not that...

I'm not completely sold on JG, but he did more than enough to beat a damn Georgia State team. We've had Qb's throw for less than 150 yards before and win these games. Was he a factor? yes, but defense was dog$hit and you're going to win very few games with a 225-93 deficit on the ground.

Not to mention getting sacked without being touched...He sacked himself lol...no kidding...Plus he turned the ball over twice and threw a 2 yards pass play on 3rd and 17 late in the game...He has no clue what he is doing out there.
