What you read and hear about in the media is a coaching strategy. Ever wondered why the backups are so inconsistent and JG is near flawless according to the media and CJP? Remember... practice is closed to the public and media. Think back to what we HAVE been able to see. The spring game and now 1 full game with JG. How consistent was JG in either? Not very to say the least. What I seen was TOTALLY different then what I’ve been told. JG in fact was the most inconsistent qb that I seen of the 3 in the spring game. Followed by JTSs accuracy. If we’re talking CONSISTENCY then BM was the most consistent. Complete 180 from reports. Point is I see what CJP is doing. He’s creating competition within the backups through the media by downplaying their abilities while putting JG on a pedestal. So the real question is why? He doesn’t trust any of them. He knows JG will check down and keep the ball out of harms way. Even if it costs us the game. BM won’t do that. He has that firey competitor in him that we’re missing and CJP is afraid of the turnovers he’ll bring with him while taking his lumps.I think JG is an average quarterback at best but someone explain this to me. Why have 3 different OCs and 2 HC all named JG as the starting quarterback? What do you experts know that these highly paid professionals do not know. I am sure they have seen more game film than any of us.
My guess is that the backups must be really really bad.
He put up 311 yards and 2 TDs.
One in the beginning. One at the end. That's called playing a complete game.
He was engaged all game long. He missed some throws but what can you can expect with such a strong arm?
He checked down a lot because it was the closest eligible receiver, and he has faith in all his teammates!
For those of you complaining about him sliding too early...if he gets hurt... who's going to play QB? He wasn't thinking about himself. He was thinking about his TEAM.
This is JGs team! For two more years! That's a lot of opportunities to get better.
GO VOLS!
No fan he's horrible, honestly horrible. I like jg but he still can't read defenses, holds the ball too long and has no internal clock. He's not the only problem but he's definitely part of itHe put up 311 yards and 2 TDs.

What game were you watching and what is your drink of choice because I want some. Seriously, you cannot count the garbage yardage on a late drive and the last TD, the game was well within GA States hand. He still continually stares down is first and only intended receiver, doesn't survey the field. He misses seeing open receivers and even commentators commented on it. His situational awareness is lacking, has yet to be able to read what the defense has given him and to this day unable to pick up a CB blitz even when the DB put it out there on full display coming off the corner, that was a huge issue last year.He put up 311 yards and 2 TDs.

High school was many years ago and highschool talent doesn't always translate to college, just like college doesn't always translate to the NFL. The defenses are better, bigger, stronger and faster. Also, you can be listed whatever you want coming out of high school, his play on the field tells me otherwise. He is not dual-threat QB, he even looks like he is running in slow motion, these last few years have convinced me of that. If he was truly a dual-threat than you would have to question his decision making because he hasn't used his legs to move out of the pocket to make key throws when needed. Kid hangs on to the ball too long, if his first option isn't open than chalk that down up as a loss. You do realize he was the top Duel Threat QB in the country coming out of high school right??
Tell me what he's done so wrong.
JG was out there battling yesterday.
Please tell me your account has been hacked???He put up 311 yards and 2 TDs.

I've honestly wondered this. Either he looks like Peyton in practice and the others don't, or the coaches are lost. I want him to be successful cause he's our qb, but dang he just doesn't have it in an actual game. The auburn game had me thinking he's arrived, but apparently he went back.In all seriousness, I’d like to hear from you guys why you think the coaching staff went with jG to start the season over the freshmen. It’s an honest question, not a defense of JG
Dobbs was supposedly terrible in practice, but he was a gamer. JG isn'tI've honestly wondered this. Either he looks like Peyton in practice and the others don't, or the coaches are lost. Experienced cannon fodder. Im sure they thought his experience would help them win even though he isnt the most talented. If he loses the starting gig before the season starts he transfers immediately which leaves the coaches with no experience at the QB position. BUT after Saturdays game apparently experience is meaningless for this team.In all seriousness, I’d like to hear from you guys why you think the coaching staff went with jG to start the season over the freshmen. Nah man. Jarrett wouldn't waste time on a message board. That dude is all about being QB. He's dialed in.
311 and 2 scores ain't nothing to sneeze at![]()
Dude..there were some snaps where he was staring the receiver down before he even snapped the ball..What game were you watching and what is your drink of choice because I want some. Pick your pat reply... “He gives us the best chance to win” “He has better ‘command’ of the offense” “He’s older and more mature” “He’s ‘earned’ it”....In all seriousness, I’d like to hear from you guys why you think the coaching staff went with jG to start the season over the freshmen. Sorry. But you are deluding yourself. His decision making still stinks. He still can't read D's effectively. He got good protection for the vast majority of the game. His "one at the end" was against a prevent D with the game out of reach.
If he gets hurt then we get to see if either of the other two can learn to make good, timely decisions then get the ball to the right player in time for them to make some yards after the catch. He's had 4 years to "get better". He hasn't overcome his weaknesses. The game hasn't slowed down for him... not even against a weak mid-major. If it hasn't in 4 years... it is time to cut bait.
I really and truly hoped he had improved. He hasn't. The OL was better (at least in pass protection). UT needs someone at QB who can lead the O and make plays. He hasn't been that guy... and he didn't look like it Saturday.
The stats are deceiving in this case. He played well below average in my opinion. With that being said, he's still probably our best bet at QB.
