How about them boys?

I talked quite a bit about them today because it was exciting to see us finally have an OLine that I feel confident in. We've had some good individual OLine players in recent years, but I think this is the first time in a long time that I feel it's good all the way from end to end.

And while I have been critical of JG, I feel like we could have anybody behind them be successful. I think a lot of credit goes to them for our offensive performance today. They gave our QB time to make his reads and opened up some big holes for our backs. I think having Cade added to the line really completes it.

Biggest indicator is their ability to get a push up front and keep a clean pocket. Mizzou doesn’t have monsters on the D-Line but they are good. Our guys did well but faded a bit in the third/early 4th. Proud they bounced back to close the game.

I’m not overly worried about the short yardage plays. Both teams knew where the ball was going and we still got the TD and rarely had a loss. Night and day vs. previous years.

Play calling still suggests they are not 100% confident having JG throw it. OR, they knew we had the hosses and wanted to keep our goal line plays under wraps.

I still saw lots of stops for 0-2 yards but think the line played well. Seems like our scheme allows edge rushers to crash down easily to make contact in the backfield. I hope they clean this up.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like our backs sometimes expect to go down early...like they are looking to dive forward as soon as they can. Instead of trying their best to stay on their feet. Maybe I'm wrong, but I got that impression watching some of those drives. Like their bodies are leaning low and forward as they try to run through the line.

I’m sure some of you noticed on the opening Chandler TD #93 lined up as an extra tackle on the left side. I was taken aback because I had no idea who this was. He put a great down block on his man and we scored easily. Anyway it was true freshman walk on Deven Jones out of Hardin Valley. I thought it was cool to see him out there, great moment and great job young man.
Edit: Upon watching again it appears the player wearing 93 on the play was not Deven Jones, as he was a white kid and Deven is not. Can anyone identify this player?

First time in years I've felt like TN could tell the other team we're running and run for first down after first down. Felt like we got enough ever time we ran it, there was no way they wouldn't gain at least 10 yards in each set of 4 downs.

Well, the one main concern from last week was the 3rd downs. And they seemed to have had the will and skill to turn it around today. We may be lucky to be getting Georgia early in this crazy season.
Go Vols!

Edit: Yeah, it was Cooper. Can see him in the after game video.
