So why do people get b****ing about it on here?
When Florida got pressure on the QB, it was because they overloaded with 7+ people rushing the line. And we still did a reasonably good job stopping the blitz. Our run game put up an amazing amount of yards, partly because the O-line.
Against GT, our O-line manhandled GT's D-line. GT brought pressure multiple times and was completely stopped in their tracks almost every single time. There were a few slip-ups in the 1st Quarter, but the O-line was elite after that.
If you check out
the NCAA stats, we actually have one of the best O-lines in the country when it comes to sacks allowed. We've only given up 2 sacks in 3 games. That's better than Alabama even though Bama has only played 1 meaningful opponent and we've played 2.
Our coaches did a poor job against Florida, but sometimes I think people are just throwing darts with their criticisms. We lost to Florida, because our coaches (particularly on the offensive side) seem completely incapable of playing to our strengths. It was not because the O-line (except to the extent that the O-line had too many penalties; which once again goes back to coaching).
Blame Larry Scott. Blame Butch Jones. Blame the guy who didn't have enough faith in his O-line and John Kelly to run it on 1st and Goal from the 1. Don't blame the O-line for that loss.
