Our LBs Are Cheez Whiz

It probably won’t. But if his offense is working it’s a quick scoring offense. Pruitts was more drive oriented. When his was working we kept possession.

When Heupels offense isn’t working it isn’t going to eat up clock. Probably some 3 and outs or punt after one first down. Same as Pruitt or any other offense having a bad game.

The point is if the offense is working or not the defense may be on the field more IMO.

Pruitts offense was beyond horrible. How many defensive TDs in critical situations did they allow? I can name several games that turned on turnovers for TDs. Pruitt teams averaged 24 even with some easy games. Big games, they were good for 14 pts.

The A&M game last year Tennessee had the ball less than 18 minutes I believe. Similar for the Florida game. Hardly “drive-oriented”.

In a world where we once started Colton Jumper and Nick Reveiz , I just refuse to believe our LB's are worse than those years.
Nick Reviez was a good linebacker, don’t mention him in the same breath as Jumper..

Yo
Heh. Sure...

Byron Young. 3* JC transfer.
Jeremy Banks. Back up last season.
Juan Mitchell. 3* Transfer

We lost our talent. Gonna be tough sledding on D.
u do realize 3* guys are littered throughout the NFL right? Stars don’t matter much when you get to the collegiate level. You gotta look at the glass half full aswell my guy.

Joseph and Harrison are physically gifted enough to be every down sec linebackers. They just need to learn how to play without thinking.

My whole takeaway is that Stephen A Smith says inflammatory, negative stuff to to get people ticked off because outrage sells. Wait, I mean John Adams. Same thing really, except Knoxville has had theirs waaaaay longer than ESPN has had Smith.

Lord knows we can’t possibly play with this group. Maybe we can play a 4-7 defense and just take them out of the equation. Would you feel better then? SMH.

We'll put up 40 to 50 points a game this fall, but our LB corps is going to be really, really bad.

A 6-6 season would be a godsend.

First of all, we didn't really have a LB coach last year.

Secondly, you are being ridiculous. Mitchell can be a very good MLB. Crouch never did anything. Willis is a beast. Roman Harrison is as well. Mohan is a tweener, but could definitely find a spot in certain situations. Banks is fine and could be very good with a good coach. We don't need to be 3 deep with 3 LBs. 4-5 LBs playing well and staying healthy should be sufficient. It may take until mid-season as we have a new system and a new LB coach, but the transfers should get up to speed pretty quickly.

I would reiterate that we didn't have a LB coach last year and really never transitioned into the 3-4 from the 4-3 well.

By switching back to the 4-3, even though we will be multiple, means that we bring rushers such as Baron and Young into the picture. Baron was a tweener in a 3-4 base. He is the ideal 4-3 End.
