Tulsa leads the NCAA with 31 touchdown passes.
Tennessee has 5 touchdown passes, which is, interestingly, not tops in the country.

Tennessee has 14 interceptions, which is tops in the country.
Tennessee has 3 pick sixes.

So, at the end of the day, a UT offensive player is more likely to catch a touchdown pass than a UT defensive player. This is reassuring, because as I've been watching the games recently, I tend feel more optimistic about our chances of scoring when we're on defense than when we're on offense.

Glad to find out that I was *way* off base there.

Maybe if we had played North Texas, New Mexico, C. Arkansas, Rice, SMU, and UTEP...

But yeah, we're pretty much awful.

I'm not even sure that would have helped considering how we played against N. Illinois.

Sam Bradford, Jaquin Iglesias, Manuel Johnson...next?

J/K, we just don't have the experience at QB, speed at WR, or talent on the line to be effective. I wish there was something we could do THIS year, but I don't see it happening.

"Not lost on me" was the point that the UT offense scored 20 points against MSU, and the defense scored 14.

Safe to say the defense is ahead of the offense, which at times ain't saying much, and at other times is quite a statement.

Also safe to say that if Eric Berry was on offense, this thread would most likely have a completely different tilt.

This is one of those threads that is entertaining, but really doesn't "do" much. Like a lot of threads here. Our defense is, overall, ahead of our offense. Point made. Still, in total, this is not a very good football team. I think we end up 6-6, give or take one game.

6-6 is not Tennessee football.

That's the bottom line.

Blame the offense, or the defense, or whomever you choose.

Our passing is a joke--it's terrible. Terrible coaching. Our special teams are a joke--been pathetic for years. Yea, UT will look a little better down the stretch because nearly all of our tough opponents are behind us. We'll beat kentucky and the Philster will act like he's done something. So delusional, so sad.

I am not sure I agree with everything there but the last part was dead on. Phil will beat KY and you will think he has won the NC.

Maybe we can switch the offense and the defense. The offense is VERY good at killing drives, so it may work.

Dont get me wrong our offense is awful, but Tulsa wouldn't have 31 TD passes if they were playing in the SEC.

The speed is at WR its just on the bench just ask Mr. Moore. And our O-line needs a big kick in the pants.

I agree we are awful on offense and I think our defense could get better at stopping drives earlier and not letting opposing teams convert so many 3rd downs.
Stephens has looked alot better than Crompton but i think at best he is still just paying average. He tends to make some ill advised throws and i would like to see him get more accurate on some of easy short throws that he has missed. i predict him to have a very bad game against a very good Alabama secondary.
