Our ex-coaches seem to be doing fine outside of Knoxville

I remember meeting the girls from the Australian Pavilion...under the Sunsphere. I assure you...it is a "lucky spot"...and a "memorial" to some fine "conquests"...
Bad news. You imagined the whole thing. Your proximity to the Sunsphere magnified its effect on brainwaves. In essence, you had a wet dream that you believe is real.

Coach O is in his perfect fit at LSU. He made the right hire for OC and they took off. Dooley is trying to resurrect his career with 2 good QB's in Lock and Bryant. I wonder how he does next year, or if he cashes in and tries to push for his next Head Coaching gig? Lane will get another big school again in the future, but it's been 10 years and he's still only at FAU. Bama had half dozen on-field coaching spots open this year and Lyle is still an analyst.

I still think Lane would have won big here. Dooley was a rush hire and not ready for an SEC job. Hamilton should have tagged Kippy with an Interim and taken his time to find a permanent replacement for 2011. That is where UT went off the rails for good in my opinion. Then we went from bad to ridiculously worse hiring the trumpet playing Lyle. I think Pruitt will be a capable HC at this level. It sucks that he is having to learn on the fly like this. This staff of individual coaches is unbelievably strong, with the exception of Weinke imo. Can they gel together and get us over the hump is the real question.

I'm sure Lane Kiffin wakes up every morning thinking about how well he's navigated his career path from the NFL to FAU.
At least he made a bunch of money doing it.

He'll make more when we rehire him in a couple years

CPF's deal with the devil had a down side. 10yrs of Up = 20yrs of down.

We still have a few more years to go.

Maybe ole Phil told Chaney where the crossroads was at so he can do to Pruitt what Phil did to Majors and we can get 10 more years of up.

I was sworn to secrecy but I simply cannot handle knowing the truth while the rest of you suffer in ignorance. So here it is. The grand reveal. The reason our coaches suck once they get to knoxville, but are better before coming and are bette after leaving is:

The Sunsphere. It absorbs solar energy and emits a frequency which messes with brainwaves for football coaches. The effect strengthens over time, too. Knoxville city planners knew the risks and approved it anyway. The only way to fix the issue is destroy the Sunsphere.
I laughed so hard at this originally. Now I am pretty sure it is true.

Same reason any of us are bad at a job we’re doing for the first time or one we’ve been we done on a grand scale.

We are these guys beta test.

Ask yourself why the hell UT is hiring interns when we need 20 year veterans.

Did you know Justin Wilcox Cal Golden Bears are 4-0? Did you know that Coach O's LSU Tigers are 4-0. Did you know Lane Kiffin has a national championship ring since he left our program? Heck, even Dooley is doing a decent job as OC/QB coach at Missouri. These are all coaches we have had since firing Fulmer and falling into the abyss. Why are they able to find success outside of Knoxville? How toxic is the environment here?

Maybe it’s the band playing Rocky Top 30 times a game? 🤔

Volnation is getting fun. Everybody is so exhausted from all the bad news I think we are getting slap happy. This thread is entering epic status and I guarantee I am never looking at the Sunsphere the same way again!

Simple. It's the negavols, the fans who mewl and and complain and call for the ouster of everyone right down to the janitors. That's the toxin. That's why "everyone fails in Knoxville and goes on to be great elsewhere." You know who you are. You are the cause of all of our ills. You.

Now, those who have a longer view of things, let's share an orange Nehi and talk like grown ups.

Dooley would still be here had he kept Wilcox. They averaged 35 points per game that season, most in the last 15 years, but gave up 38 I think. Wilcox never gave up that many points in a season.

There most certainly is a toxic issue with the boosters and administration. Think about how many coaches can’t get out of Knoxville fast enough.

Kiffin ... one year
Barnes ... even with wife being an alumn
Cuonzo
Dooley ... begged to be fired
