Now i know our gameplan won't change much, although I'd like to see chavis throw somethin off the wall like the 01' game, but I thought it was interesting when they asked Ray Lewis during the WVU game how he would defend WVU and their style attack. He said you have to attack them and try to disrupt what they are trying to do. You can't sit back and let them read what you are doing.

Now i know florida has a much better passing game, but it sounded like a good philosophy that would work against florida as well. As much misdirection as they use, instead of tryin to decide where the ball is goin, attack them before. This opens up big plays, but I'd like to see us go after them.

Thoughts...

We must attack and get pressure early. If we can score first and take more defensive chances in man coverage it would be very nice.

I agree, we must bring pressure. I want pressure and penetration. I better stop here this is starting to sound like a X rated novel.

You just have to look for the signs. They are given right between the catcher's legs. I made that one up myself.

 Are you suggesting we come hard around the end to get it?

Well I'll put it this way, Tebow might let out a squeal if he gets it from behind, especially if he gets it when he isn't quite anticipating it.

you can bet your mortgage on this.....florida will blitz like h*** at ainge.....and bring the kitchen sink probably on every down. the whole freakn' gator world has been saying down here from coaching to journalists. THEY WILL BLITZ....WHY DON'T WE?

On the Urban Myer Show
"it will take pressure off the young defense if we pressure ainge to throw quickly or not throw at all....if we give ainge time, he will pick us apart."

To be honest, I think that would be a bad idea for UF.

Given Ainge's reputation in the league, expect this for the duration of the SEC schedule. Florida is going to put much more pressure on him than he has seen this year.

If you blitz like h*** and the running back gets past with the ball it is clear to the endzone.

Also, the blitz leaves their young corners man-to-man. One slip and Ainge will exploit it like he found Austin last week.

Hopefully we'll do the same to Tebow instead of just trying to get in with the front 4 like always.

down here on gator radio, they said vinson will play defense...has anyone at UT headquarters heard that?

I think that Karl is a liability in the blitz packages. That makes the pressure much more readable/predictable. The blitzes that we did run against Call were picked up way too easily.

The problem with blitzing a misdirectional or spread offense is gaps. Playing disciplined Defense is key. Getting a push and pressure without blitzing a lot will be the best thing for our D. Our LB's is what will be key in this game. Mayo and RM will have to play a great game. The underneath stuff killed us at Cal and in the USM game for the 1 qtr and a half. Our LB's will dictate this game from a defensive stand point.
My concern is that they will go at RK like they did that 3 toed sloth that played in the middle for OSU last year.

Let me add that we will HAVE to stay in our lanes and stretch the play to the side line without gaps opening up. That will be huge.

Agreed. A more creative blitz approach is also welcomed. They will attack Karl very consistently. In all honesty, judging by the Cal game, in order to get pressure, UT will have to send more than one blitzer. Whether it is a corner and a backer or two backers, once the play gets past the line of scrimmage, or if a misdirection play is called with the blitz on, UT will be in a world of hurt.

Stretch the play and hit Timmy in the mouth every chance you get.

Playing disciplined on Defense, especially early will be a very good sign for the good guys.

I agree with you in the fact that your linebackers have to stay disciplined and you have to get pressure from your front four, thats how u defend the spread. the problem is just that, we havn't been getting pressure and can our lb's stay disciplined?

If and until Tebow burns us for our efforts I really like the idea of pressuring a young QB. If (yes, if) we can somehow manage to consistently get them in passing situations and bring heat he may falter. Some guys, even very talented ones, can be prone to mistakes when things get hairy. Jamarcus Russell comes to mind.

Tebow's never had to pass his way out of adversity. If he can, kudos. We need to test him.

The key to any win is pressuring the backfield...get back there and try to disrupt whatever it is they want to do. Make them make precision handoffs under heavy duress from the other team. If you do that and they ARENT precise, then they will make mistakes.
