Our defense!!!!!!

Our defense...................SUCKS! I know we have a lot of injuries but Shoop & his scheme hasn't worked out for us in his 1st year. I guess he's not used to SEC talent.

We're getting burned all over the field running & passing the ball. Barnett & Vereen have done their part with the pass rush but other than those two players I see nothing.

Jumper has played pretty well & Abernathy at times but we have too much talent in our secondary to get beat up so bad in the passing game. Today, it showed up more in the running game. We couldn't stop a statue today. I mean it was terrible.

Shoop's scheme just isn't working in the SEC. He's either going to have to adjust to a different scheme or try different players out there because we're not a good defensive team at all right now. We should be improving & not regressing after 10 games.

If it wasn't for Barnett & Vereen we would have done nothing all year long. These two deserve an awful lot of credit in holding the defense together. Barnett is even getting better in stopping the running game too. Thanks!

Shoop's defense did just fine versus Florida at shutting them the hell down. The fact is we don't have the tackles to stop the run currently. We're pretty far down the depth chart at multiple positions with some of the best defensive players being sidelined by injury.

WTF are they doing?!??!?!?

I think the D is not very talented at this time in the season. Youth and inexperience and possibly our coaches having a hard time balancing those weaknesses. Opposing coaches are out coaching ours.

Bold above. 28 points given up & mostly in the passing game you call that playing good defense? We did play well thru 3 quarters but didn't finish it off playing good defense in the 4th quarter.

I really don't know which game I can set here & say we absolutely played our best defensive all-around game. I want to say the Tenn Tech game but the competition was subpar.

The rest of the games we've given up quite a few points & played pretty bad. Injuries plays a factor in this as well but we have just looked bad & partially I think it's the scheme of Shoop.

It's the sad reality, but there are a lot on here that think anyone with a scholarship should be able to step in without drop off.

It was awful watching them give up big runs all day.

I think he got hurt. That's why Griffin was in there.

He has been slow all season. That is why long passes get completed down the sidelines, he does not have the range.

Just watch the first UK offensive play, the long run. Everyone in front of him is getting further ahead of him and people behind him are gaining on him.

Did I miss something I was at the game I thought we won

I think you missed 443 rushing yards, 635 total yards and 36 points given up by our defense to an average at best SEC offensive team who came in averaging 390 total yards per game.

Scoreboard is all that matters.
Isn't that what we hear when we lose.
There are no moral losses

We won...which is cool. It's awesome...but looking forward to a possible matchup with Bama in the SECCG..the run defense is frighteningly gawd awful right now.

Is it about intelligence and playing as a unit?

At Vanderbilt they were less talented, but more intelligent and had to play as a unit. At Penn State they were less talented, but more intelligent and had to play as a unit.

Do we have more talent but less intelligence and greater egos?

Yeah, that's why Yale's defense ranked #1 year after year.

I believe you have left out some important facts in your posting. Of course if it makes you feel better about bashing a depleted defense please go ahead.
