Next year we bring back almost everyone back except for Waggner and Lathers as far as starters go. Next year is when we loos everyone when they graduate, but I think that as long as we close with Toby Johnson and Von Bell this year and have a strong class in 14 then our defense will be stronger and more athletic, Here is a look in the future. This is also assuming AJ and Curt don't go pro after next year.

What ever shook out with that Omari kid from Florida? Is he still with the team or did he get homesick and leave?

they are nice now but we shoiuldn't need too many more in a few years we will be solid enough to where we can pick and choose the ones we want.

he is a feshman we can't expect every freshman to come in and start right away. It is a good thing if we don't have to play every single freshman we sign.

Once the underclassmen learn the in's and out's of Sal's scheme I think we will have a pretty good defense.

All along I have feared that learning a new scheme this year would hurt us. It is a shame too because offensively we are pretty good and if our defense was just average then I believe we are undefeated at the moment.

My only fear now is that once the defense comes around we will be in the midst of trying to replace a lot of good offensive players and trying to reload on that side of the ball.

GO VOLS!!!

You talking about Toby Johnson at that DE spot? He's a DT... A 310 lb. DE doesn't sound right.

If Dooley and Sal get fired, then the new coach will likely change back to the 4 - 3 and then we will have that transition period again. So, next seasons talent on defense will not live up to their potential.
Also, if Dooley is fired, other schools can say "I woud not go to U.T., they change staffs frequently. Come here and you will have a solid coaching staff but you won't at U.T."
Let Dooley do what Shula did and get the roster in order, then bring in a real coach who can get the most out of the players on the field.

An OP should be able to have an option as to whether or not their new thread shows up on the main page...

No problem. All these guys that are dead last in pass rushing in the SEC will be back next year. Good news, our swiss cheese secondary will be back next year except for our one competent senior. Better news, the great LBs will be back except for the senior leader. The same LBs that can't set the edge on runs, get to the QB, or cover in the passing lanes.

But next year will be great. All they need is to understand Sal's schemes better.

Some people amaze me. Some people like to at least try to sometimes be a little positive but once that starts here come the negative people and the volnation experts to tell them to shut up and we suck and need to fire everyone. Considering half of those secondary players have not even played yet and most of our lbs are sohpmores I do see potential for improvement. Even though you don't and we just suck and need to just stop playing football because we suck :cray:

so true.

Im sorry, I dont see the potential.

I dont see all these "playmakers", and I surely dont see any star pass rushers.

The defense will be young. It also still depends on certain players staying healthy like Maggitt(best player), AJ, and McNeil.

The D-line will be the strength off the defense but the LBs need some instant help from this cycle. Best case would be C.Harris, Bynum, Vereen, and Zanca.

We also need to pull Carl Lawson in the worst way.

The secondary will be young again but I think they'll be better.

OP has it wrong though: JRM will probably be a true safety, Vonn Bell at CB.

K.Miles and JRM are very important to this class.Because we don't know what Randolph will be after the injury.

B.Moore is somebody I don't know what to say about him right now. He doesn't want to hit anybody.

Coleman, Bonner, and Gray will give us some decent CB play hopefully.

I need to see who we land before I call this defense for sure or start drinking some of the Kool-aid.
