Our coach is a national champion

For you people downplaying Pruitt’s success and screaming we don’t have those players and talent, I assure you we all get it. I know good and well we aren’t winning a natty next year or the year after. I get it.

Us idiots know that bama is packed with 4-5 stars and we are not. BUT If Pruitt can get our 3-4 star talent to fly around and play aggressive, disciplined football then we are in a much better place then we were. Pruitt gave up 26 points to 2 powerhouse programs in 2 weeks. We have something to be excited about here guys but it will take time. IF you can’t give him credit and try to be excited about our program looking up, then your either a troll or a miserable human being. You pick.

Go Vols.

You don't know Jack. We could win a "natty" next year.

The gumps prefer to be called gumps. They've earned it.

Right on with the rest.

Almost. This comes from my heart, "natty", never use it again. NC, National Championship even, well that's really about it.

Does anybody have a Bell Curve on Fantics?

Range from casual to poison a tree. I have beat a tree with a stick before. But that was the only time I purposely hurt a tree. I'm not sure which brother I was imagining that tree to be. I learned a valuable lesson that day. You can't chop down a tree with a stick.

As for the trolls and miserables. I get it.

Levi Park here we come.

So your entire argument boils down to you just don't like the fact that he had anything to do with Bama. That's your whole argument. It's like someone writing a 10,000 word treatise over why they don't like stewed tomatoes when just saying, I don't like stewed tomatoes because they taste like vomit will do.

He's got that small minded Looser mentality.

Looser mentality

Im assuming looser mentality is the same as loser mentality.

If so, how is a statement of fact a mentality? Is it not a fact that CJP was wearing an alabama shift and hat last night as he coached in a national championship game?

It's actually his 5th NT, 2nd as DC. He was with Bama in 09, 11, 12, FSU in 13 and Bama again this year.

Obscure factoid someone told me, every freshman class Pruitt has recruited since he started coaching at Bama has competed in a National Title game. Georgia, Bama, and FSU.

Not sure if that's accurate but it would be a nice recruiting tool if it were true.

Keep telling yourself that and your in for a let down. I will be realistic and be happy if we can win a bowl game next year.

That’s the spirit. Lower the bar.

Every loss is a disappointment. That’s being realistic.

I’ll be happy nit picking our wins apart.

I’ll be sad nit picking any losses apart.

Yes, every loss is a disappointment. But due to talent and depth, some losses are inevitable. It’s not lowering the bar. It’s not setting unrealistic expectations. I guess you’ll be on here screaming for a new coach after a few losses next year. Well played.

I'm usually late to the fire the HC parties. But you never know when it comes to a gump. I expect he has what it takes or our new AD wouldn't have wanted him at UT.

Bar=expectations.

To lower expectations is to lower the bar.

CJP has been coaching for how long? If he isn't ready by now to run his own program and make a name for himself as a HC like he has as a DC, when will he ever be. I expect the same AD that hired him to help with the curve of being a 1st time HC.

I get it. I would love to win every game next year. I’m with you on that.

Unfortunately, your looking over the fact that the talent and depth just isn’t there. We really have 0 depth at some positions, and injuries will expose that. It’s going to happen. I do expect to see a much more aggressive and disciplined team next year, which is where it has to start. If you’ve played team sports, then you know that much of winning and losing is accomplished with the attitude and culture of a program. This has to make a 180 turn as well. I think we will surprise some teams next year, and play with some teams that people think we can’t compete with, but I’m realistic as well.

It’s just not feasible to expect us to win a game against a team who most of our starters couldn’t play second string for.

I do admire your positivity and hopes though. I just want people to give this coach a chance, and I’m afraid they wont if they honestly think we can win 10 next year.

How can you not be happy that our coach just won? He'll FOREVER be able to sell that in recruit's homes. That can't hurt.
Yep.
And hats off to CJP! :hi: He did a great job of handling double duties. Staff hiring & Early Signing Period recruiting for UT, coaching in the playoffs, and then clocking in full time at UT right away. He's off to a great start for y'all.
Best of luck, Vols! :toast:

We have a better chance of going 15-0 than all of our fans acting in a reasonable way.

If you break our schedule down 8 of our games are winnable(Not saying a loss couldn't happen.), while 4 will be highly contested(Not saying the other 8 won't be contested.). The gumps and chumps will be a handful(Seems they both will be losing a large number of contributing players to graduation and some more might leave early for the NFL.)

Coming up with an aggressive game plan each week puts us light years ahead of last year's team. Is it possible for us to be as conservative as last year? Yes. Likely? No.

I expect CJP and our new staff to inspire our players to work harder resulting in better performances on game day.

The new staff is used to coaching elite players. We have some of those. The areas we don't our staff will need to coach up and game plan to achieve wins in spite of talent.

How many times did we fail to execute the "splash" plays we spent all game/season setting up?

I'd rather lose playing it fast and loose than lose playing conservative. Playing so conservative against the big 4 on our schedule might not get it done. Coming out guns a blazing might not either. Pulling out all the stops and playing "no holds barred", will be more fun to watch.

There is 1 thing I do know.

If CJP is as legit as our new AD believes him to be, a quick 180 should be expected. Are we to the point of it's a NC run or bust? Not yet. The chumps were loaded,it's really hard to beat the gumps.

I like our chances.

Go Vols!

I’m with you man. If our kids buy in I expect much more aggressive, disciplined gameplay week in and week out. I like to think we won’t be as conservative either. I agree 100% that I would rather see us fall on our face while trying to be aggressive. I’d much rather lose a ball game that way than 3 up the middles and a punt all game.

I think we can play ball with anyone on the schedule next year, but I also think the depth will expose us late in some games against teams like bama. 8-9 is doable next year with good play and some things falling our way in games. However, I won’t becready to fire the guy if we only see 7 wins. 2019 will be the year to see how this coach is working for us.

Maybe the time he spent playing ball in Tn has him ready. I've never wanted a HC to succeed as much as I want CJP to(Except for all the other HCs at UT.). With all my might. I wish there was something I could do to help. I do enjoy getting loud at the game. Even when it doesn't matter. Once against the gumps, it felt like it mattered.

I don't want to discuss a record that gets a HC fired after 1 year.

I think the # is 8. I'm tired of losing to scrubs due to too conservative game plans.
