Our chances with these 5*s

I believe we had a stacked class when Gerald Riggs was recruited, too. Was it Jabari Davis that came with him?

The tempo of this offense will necessitate a 2 tailback rotation, if not 3.

Think that class was Jabari Davis, Cedric Houston, Derrick Tinsley
Then Riggs the next season

Correct. Keldrick Williams came in w the other three making it 4 heralded backs that year. KW never panned out.
The only problem with this was that Fulmer had both Ronnie Brown & Cadillac Williams either committed or leaning to us, but we had a log jam of runners coming in an Tubby brought the full court press and ended up with the best 2 of the six. :-(

What could have been with Cedrick Houston, had he not had that undetected heart issue the whole time?

Also, never understood why J-train never really produced? He looked like a Jamal replacement early on and then just faded out of the depth chart.

Every 5-Star above Hurd will be a bust. Every 3-Star we have are diamonds in the rough.

Butch gets it.

I would say that we will likely NOT get any more running backs, however; one fof our classes had Travis Henry, Travis Stephens & Jamaal Lewis in it, so it is possible but not likely.

Lewis was a year before iirc. Nonetheless, that was some spot on recruiting in those two years!

In 99', I thought we had the best stable of backs in the history of UT: Jamal Lewis(Jr), Henry(So), Stephens(RS), Ontario Smith(Fr). This would make a good thread Q. Nice when the #1 season rusher of all time at UT got red shirted due to the depth.
But man, the staff really hit the nail on the head with every one of those guys!

Let's not forget Garrett he's a 5* on some sites and we have a solid chance with him, but him and adoree are our only hopes, besides the commits we have getting bumped.

I've always wondered the same thing. He was rated higher than any of the other mentioned RB's. He had a monster game against Florida, I remember....so, I cannot figure out why we didn't play him more.

Chuck Webb and Reggie Cobb are still the best RB tandem in UT history, thus far. Jamal Lewis and Travis Henry are right behind them. Would be nice to know you got both the Hammer and the Anvil to bash teams with....again.

Hurd and (Racean) Thomas would be that next dynamic duo. Paulk may turn out to be another Ray Rice, too.

Thread is about 6 months early, but always good for some jollies

We have all grown accustomed to disappointment and mediocrity. What if Butch REALLY does get it and we have a great season (8 wins or more)? All bets are off and these percentages start to climb. The next phase of recruiting will be decided Saturdays this fall.

Ask this question in December. If we win the games we are supposed to and steal a game or two, the kids will know we are real. If we winning the game we are supposed to and lose to ones they think we will, most of these kids will turn their noses up at us.

Lorenzo Carter's facebook has one of his likes as Rise to the Top. Just saying...he could want in on building UT back to former glory.

Men like to build things. You want to look back and say, "this is something that I did."
