Saving the recruiting class gets dicey no matter what you do. My thought is if you made some type of announcement now, you would have a better idae of what you are up against. You might even get a head start depending on who you hire and/or what you are able to accomplish behind the scenes.

I just don't think that a coach that already has a job will even be willing to talk until after the season. Like it or not, Fulmer deserves a little respect. The game has obviously passed him by, but he did do a lot of good things for TN. I always hoped that TN would just win one NC in my lifetime, and it happened in '98. I will always be grateful to CPF for that.

I don't see it as a lack of respect issue. I don't think it was disrespectful the way Michigan handled the Lloyd Carr situation last year. Do you?

I don't necessarily believe that it was disrespectful. I'm just saying IMO, it will not accomplish anything if they do it after the Bama game vs. doing it after the KY game. Just let the season play out and make the announcement then. What difference does it make? Gruden wont' be available to discuss the opening until sometime in January......:)
