First of all, I HATE THE GATORS!! But until we decide to bring someone in to change the scheme to counter that of Urban Meyer we would not compete.

Thats what why we need a new coach, we did not change with the times, now the times are changing us. Thanks alot Hamilton.

I still think our 98 team would win but it would be a good game. Meyers is a better coach than Fulmer.

I don't see Tebow running around like Vince Young against that '98 team.

Another moot topic...like how Patrick Turner chose the wrong school....:banghead2:....

But Tebow would have had his d*** handed to him by UT's D that year

I don't think there's been a team since that we couldn't play with, 'cept maybe the '01 Canes & the '04 Trojans. Not as talented as a lot of teams since then but definitely had the most will to win out of them all.

The spread would give them fits, until al wilson came around the outside corner and ended tim teabags college career. No florida wouldn't beat that tennessee team. They knew how to tackle and had a dominate front seven.

The question should be if this years florida team is better than the 98 florida team which we only won by a missed field goal at home in OT.

Good question. The '98 Florida team won the Orange Bowl. Too early to tell with this team.

98 UT would pound 98 OSU. I coached alongside a member of that OSU team and never failed to remind him exactly what Billy Ratliff, Darwin Walker, Ron Green, and Jeff Coleman would have done to him personally and what Shaun Ellis and Corey Terry would have done to his mates.

Yeah kinda like they stopped McNabb from running all over the place. That was a great team and may have been one of the best but it still took several miracles to achieve what they did.

The 95 - 99 Tennessee squads plus the 2001 team would have probably beaten this years Gators. Our problem this year was with defense. There were no issues with these defenses.

FWIW I think that the 95 - 2001 Gators would have beaten this years Gators squad. I'm not trying to take anything away from Florida who blew our doors off a couple of weeks ago, but many things went right in that game, not that we would have beaten them, but under normal circumstances it should have been closer.

When Florida faces LSU they should get exposed. That LSU defense reminds me of the Tennessee defense's in the 90's that no-one wanted to play.

One more thing. The SEC right now has two elite teams (Florida and LSU), and a bunch of middle of the road ones (Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky) and a few bad ones (Auburn, Miss State, Mississippi, Vandy). Florida will gets its only true test when it plays LSU. Sure Georgia and South Carolina have a shot, but it's a less than 50 percent shot. I suppose I'm saying that the Gators are not facing the stiff competition this year like they have in the past so don't be fooled by them.

I'm not even '98 was our best team. 95, 97, 99, and 01 were outstanding teams as well from total-talent-at-all-positions standpoint. 96 had some OL issues so I didn't include them, although they were very talented as well (#1 defense in SEC).
