Are a combined 2-16 in conference play. We’ve played 3 of the 4 worst teams in the SEC the past 2 seasons. And this year we nearly lost to 2 of them. And our out of conference opponent that put up nearly 400 yards of offense and 4 TDs on us is currently 3-6 after being beat 27-10 by Bill Belichecks UNC

If you replace on our schedule
Cowbells with Ole Miss or LSU
Arkansas with Missouri or Texas
Syracuse with Georgia Tech or Miami
I’ll keep Kentucky since they’re a locked opponent

What is our record then? Would we even be bowl eligible right now?

Heupel has greatly benefitted from having one of the easiest schedules in the league, the 3 actually good teams we’ve played against we lost to, and pretty much all were because of piss poor coaching. The easy schedule also got us into the CFP last year, and we saw what happened when we ran into a real team in the first round. He’s built a paper tiger. The team is fraudulent and has been since 2023.

Brent Venables has one road win over a ranked SEC team. Any guesses who that one win came against? The big win which has his entire fanbase extolling his virtues this morning. Any ideas?.....

I called this loss weeks ago. OU is a decent team and Tennessee can't beat a decent team this year.

To be fair, the jury was out on him and his 2024 season saw a lot of injuries and everything goes against him. It reminded me of Mizzou's first season in the SEC where injuries caused them to slump to a 5-7 season. They rebounded and won the SEC East the following season. OU has rebounded.

Perhaps this is just a slump year for Tennessee but it is very concerning as there seems to be massive, glaring chinks in our system and the way we do things right now.

I'm not sure what you've seen from LSU, Mizzou or Texas to think they're a huge step up in competition

Also conveniently phone that Syracuse lost their starting QB which sank their season

But yeah OM is pretty good. At least you got that right 🍪

Texas just murdered Vandy. They look like they are turning things around.

LSU is going the opposite direction. Like us, they are in free-fall and are regression (I think Tennessee has regressed as the season has progressed).

So we're in a thread complaining about weak schedules but Vandy is being praised? Texas squeaked by UK and MSU in consecutive weeks but they're turning it around? Those are bad wins for us according to this thread

Well they beat their ranked opponent at home and we did NOT. You would have an argument had we not crap the bed last night.

Yeah I don't think the entire fanbase is, they still think he's underachieving big time. And most seemed to assume he was going to blow the win last night with decisions like throwing the ball that lead to the interception when they were running well and eating up clock.

This week Vanderbilt and Memphis will be ranked higher than Tennessee and Tennessee may fall out of the top 25 with three losses, that is where the program is and I don't see it getting any better with Heupel at the helm. The conference has changed since he got here and the fine points, the precision and execution necessary to compete with the top of the conference and in big games is beyond him.

We'll revisit Texas at the end of the month, they still have Georgia and Texas A&M left and I'm betting at best they split those.

Here was the letter I broke out each time:
Dear Coach (insert coach name):

First let me tell you I am impressed with your courage to consider joining our dumpster fire. I hear you are a great offensive mind. However, I think you are coming into something you don't fully understand.
At first you will see great support here on Volnation. Our fanbase has a tendency to worship our coaches. Don't let this fool you, because it was the EXACT same way with our previous 3 coaches. This fanbase will turn on you, even the coach worshippers. It is a cycle. Coach announced...great support...not much progress...support lost. You can look back over Volnation for the past 3 hires and confirm this. This even happened with the Kiffin hire. These coach worshippers will act like they never liked your hire.
We have been rebuilding for over a decade and most fans are sick of it.
If this doesn't scare you off, you need to come in here and win. Make it happen. We don't need excuses or coach speak cliche lessons...we need to win...NOW. We must see you win at hiring a staff, recruiting, and most importantly ON THE FIELD. We are tired of being a joke and will accept nothing less

Vandy very well could be fool's gold. Their biggest wins were LSU and Missouri; LSU fired their coach and will end up probalby 7-5 at best. Missouri is Missouri and will likely end up 8-4 at best. They have lost to the 2 best teams they've played.

I give them credit for winning but Texas was completely outplayed by both Kentucky and Miss. St. and because both have bonehead coaches they ended up winning those. Texas really had no business beating Miss. St.

Texas didn't murder Vandy. Looks like they were holding on for dear life at the end of that game. Vandy is getting more out of the kids they have than any team in the league. They're well coached, don't beat themselves, and play with a chip on their shoulder. Heupel should take notes. Clark Lea may be the best coach in the SEC.

Check out Texas A&M schedule. They finally have to play a couple good teams….in November. I know they beat ND, I’m just talking about SEC schedule.

Not really even then, at Missouri is like playing the worst good SEC team, and then at Texas. If anyone is going on a weak schedule, it's TAMU. No Georgia, no Alabama, no Ole Miss, an LSU team in freefall, don't have to play us at Neyland.

Notre Dame's schedule is a joke. They have 1 decent win against USC, and lost to the other 2 good teams they've played; one being an overrated Miami.

We haven't played a quality opponent well all year. We've struggled against lesser teams.. Our stats are very misleading on offense due to so many additional possessions off Turnovers and quick Defensive Points allowed.

They did murder them for 3 quarters but I don't know if they took their foot off the gas or Vandy woke up or a combo of both. I do wish Vandy had not missed that FG and seen how it would have played out in OT if the game had still played out like it did.
