with a combined record of 13-1...

We need to stay positive. Let's not give up on this team. This isn't like last year when the team started laying down. These guys are giving it their all. I still think we make it to a bowl game. We have to win 1 of these 4 (UGA, Bama, Ole Miss, USCjr.) and sweep UK, Vandy, and Memphis. We will do it...

There are positives you can take away from the game. We had over 400 yards of offense. Crompdaddy didn't kill us. Sure, he wasn't spectacular, but he didn't lose the game. We had our chances. If we play an A game in special teams, we might win the game last night. Crompton's INTs have went down for 3 consecutive games. He is still not that good, but you can see an improvement. Just go back and look at the UCLA game. He is getting better...

I am not giving up on this team. We still have a top 10 defense and the offense has improved drastically over last year. I think we have just played 3 good teams. This is not the awful UCLA and Auburn teams we played last year who combined for a total of 9 wins. For comparison, they already have 9 wins this year...

We will finish this year out by going to a bowl game. We need to trust this coaching staff, they will get us there. They have been involved in too many wins (Nat'l Cships, Super Bowls, etc.) to not know what they are doing...

Great common sense post. We need more of it LV. :hi:

I don't care what the total record of the teams we lost to is.

I care that this passing offense is the worst in UT history. We have the D and running game to compete in the SEC. Crompton and the receivers, however, blow any chance we have at a bowl game.

Unless they somehow get better overnight.

We play Georgia - Alabama - South Carolina in the next 3 games. 3 very good teams..With our passing offense, our chances of beating them is slim to none.

I like your attitude. We have been very close to winning, and we haven't had a great showing from our special teams yet. I haven't given up, if anything Hardesty is fun to watch.

You must've missed last year.

We'll get this turned around as soon as our staff gets the athletes we need. Until then, it's going to be growing pains. Get used to it.

I thank you Lord Vader for putting all this mess on here in perspective. This post and your other post about fans leaving early are right on point. We need to stay positive and enjou as much as we can, a team in rebuilding. We will get there. All the parts are getting put into place. GO VOLS

Crompton's '08 Stats
51% COMP, 98 Rating, 111 YPG, 4 TDs, 5 INTs

Crompton's '09 Stats
58% COMP, 115 rating, 160 YPG, 9 TDs, 8 INTs

And the teams we've played this year are alot better than the teams last year. It's getting better. We will go to a bowl game man. Keep the faith...

Why not get used to losing while we're at it. That's a lame approach... "Our passing game sucks, get used to it..." NO! I will not get used to it. I, along with THOUSANDS of the vol faithful want to see a change made. JC will not be here next year. We're WASTING valuable reps on him when they could be used to make NS better. The season is over, so start planning for next year. And maybe NS is a better game day performer and we might salvage this season which JC has single handily driven in the ground after only 5 games.

Wow, talk about SPIN. That's garbage and you know it. Most of those stats came from WKU and the other night when the game was over. But how is 8 ints compared to 5 last year better? It's only been 5 games. Did you the fumble the other night? Or what about to trip or what about ANYTHING? Crompton is HORRIBLE and a CANCER to this team. Anyone who thinks otherwise is in lala land.

If you want a change so bad, then go put in a resume. This is Crompton and Stephens' 4th and 5th year, respectively. Neither has what it takes to get the job done at this level. For some reason, our challenged fans don't understand this.

And no, this season is not over -- except for needy, spoiled people who have no concept of reality.

Before you get confused, just know that I'm disgusted with Crompton's performance as our QB. Sadly, he will go down as one of the worst to play the position at UT. However, he's the best we have right now.

Here's one of your gems: "We're WASTING valuable reps on him when they could be used to make NS better." LOL... spoken like a true football genius.

People that think Stephens is a ton better really entertain me. Your memory must be that of a 2 year old. I'm not totally opposed to Stephens playing this year. But, it's like I've said on here before. If someone was standing next to you with a gun to your head and saying you have to marry either Hillary Clinton or Janet Reno, I think most of us would just take the bullet. That's the way I feel with the Crompton/Stephens debate. They are both terrible. I don't need to see "Nick the Pick" come in and prove that to me again.

Under the category for total offense, which UT fans have become accustomed to reading from the bottom up, you will find the Vols nestled into the middle of the pack, ranking a respectably mediocre 56th.

it qualifies as drastic improvement for a program that ranked 115th in total offense last season.

No. 56 looks even better when you scan further down the total-offense rankings.

Ole Miss is 59th. Oregon is 64th. Miami is 67th. Ohio State is 68th. Iowa is 74th. LSU is 99th.

All six are in this week's top-25 polls. Ohio State and LSU are in the top 10.

Maybe UT fans also would be encouraged to know that Georgia, Saturdays' opponent, ranks 86th in total offense.

Or maybe, they're numb to numbers after a 5-7 season in 2008 and a 2-3 start this year.

Crompton threw with uncharacteristic accuracy in the fourth quarter of UT's 26-22 loss to Auburn on Saturday night. If you tuned in at midstream of that comeback, you might have wondered if you were watching a UT rerun from the 1990s.

A very good article on GVX...

They also came against much improved UCLA and Auburn teams and in game on the road against the #1 team in the country who was supposed to kick our teeth in...

When the game was over? Did you miss the TD drive right before halftime? Did you miss the TD drive early in the 4th? Did you miss the FG drive in the 4th? The last drive of the game was the only one that happened when the game was over...

well, that's a bit overkill, but correct when mentioning the WKU game. Without that, it's one of the worst stat lines in college for a QB

Hey ron, when did I say nick was a "ton" better? I didn't. We don't know if ns is better or not because he hasn't been given a chance in a game UNDER THIS NEW STAFF AND OFFENSE on show what he can do!!! If he sucks, ok, there's no way he can play worse then JC with the offense the way it is. NS can hand it off to MH or BB just like JC can. But maybe he'll keep the ball of the damn field at least!

But you can't argue this, Crompton busted his ass for this team. He never wanted to quit, he never wanted to just sit down and give up because he WANTS to get better to help this team win.

Like I said, I'm not opposed to it. But, I trust Kiffin to know what he's doing and especially the entire staff. And it's not just this staff if you remember... Stephens was behind Crompton last year too. Cutcliffe, Clawson, and now Kiffin/Chaney all have him behind Crompton.

The only time I saw him "bust his ass" is when he fell down near the opp endzone. Other than that he's helped us lose more than win...
