Not sure every OU fan is surprised, or even excited about Mayfield being named the starter. We will see just how far he goes with the Air Raid offense. Yes, the kid was a walk-on at Texas Tech. Even so, walk-ons have been known to make their mark (ie, ask NEB). OU's line is not AS experienced as the one that will take the field this year against the VOLS, but I wouldn't sell them short just yet. I would point out that the WR corps that played against the VOLS last year was weak. Outside of Sheppard, we didn't have anybody step up. This year, we feel that the WR corps, with the addition of Westbrook, the #2 JUCO WR last year, and the progress of Quick, Neal and Mead, Mayfield may have better options than Knight did last year. Your D-line and D overall concerns me, but until your FR make a statement on the field, we (Nor the VN, really) can say for certain that your frontline D is all that. I hope OU wins, sure. I'll take a loss as long as it's competitive.
