Other head coach options (merged)

I'm not really a huge fan... but he is a top tier coach and available now. I don't know that UT would get immediate recommits or that Boulware might hang around to be "re-recruited"... but it would provide some certainty where uncertainty is blowing the program up.

Just do it already!! There's Stoops, Strong, Mullen, Petrino, etc. just off the top of my head. ALL are better than Jones!! All would have at least 9-10 wins a year and would push for more.

it's almost an Urban Meyer to FL situation, might have known about him but you can't tell me every FL fan wanted him.

Chip is the same, people know, know what he's about and what he's done, not everyone likes him, but if he were to come here and start racking up titles, all that would just go away, like it did with FL and Meyer.

There are very few times when a program and go out and get a top tier coach like this, so this needs to be done, get him and don't look back.

Anybody think DJ Durkin would be a reasonable hire? Not saying I do (or don't), just asking?

If we miss on all major targets he is who I want.
1. SEC experience
2. Phenomenal Recruiter
3. Coached under great coaches like Harbaugh and Meyer
4. Just beat Texas by 10 with a 2nd string QB in the 2nd half. Beat PJ Fleck with a 3rd string QB. Only loss to a ranked UCF where the 2nd string QB got hurt.
5. Is a defensive guy which is rarer these days.

Oh man we don't have enough of these threads...somebody make another?
Not to be a smarta**....but we get it lol

Do you think Stoops would leave the empire he's built at OU to take on a dumpster fire? Please.

Petrino? Scandal coach.
Mullen? His gimmick offense is dependent on a Dobbs type QB to be successful.

Strong is where he needs to be.

Hard Pass.
Can’t win in ACC.
No impressive wins.
Texas sucks now.

1. Bob Stoops is done.
2. Strong? Seriously, he couldn't win at Texas in the Big12. That's your answer?

Its really sad that we have an opportunity to hire a top tier coach, who is available now, and we won't do it. This is CRAZY! He is a GREAT college coach. We would win the East in two years. This is a complete no brainer. Pay him the money and lets move on!

Not being rude but may I ask why you're still a Jones supporter? I'll hang up and listen...

He has made leaps and bounds in image since Dooley. Its not like what Mac took over at Florida or Harborugh at Michigan or Myer at Ohio State. Jones foundation was straight garbage when he arrived.

Jones has been way to loyal to his coordinators and that is what is killing him.

I could be mistaken but I believe LWS said the same thing.

Other portraying the information as theirs is what I was hinting at. And LWS will also admit his info has been off at times too. People change their minds. Not saying they will go after Chip but they'd be stupid not to reach out and try.
