Other head coach options (merged)

If there are people really throwing out Bobby Petrino's name, then can we at least consider Randy Sanders? The guy got a bum deal his last time around because Fulmer had more control of the offense than many may want to believe. The guy is 10-12 years older and has more experience and would make a great, safe hire.

Sanders was an utter disaster. His offense was terrible, got worse with each passing year, and really started the program's slide after our success in the late 90s, early aughts. I'm sure he's improved but.....

Randy was a scape goat. Talent was down much further than fans thought. Clawson came in and we saw how bad our talent really was. Both Randy and Clawson were good coaches.

Randy Sanders O at Fla ST (YPG):

2014 = 38th
2015 = 51st
2016 = 25th
2017 = 116

We had a good run with him here, but I would not take him now unless he had a few years with great success.

This year they kind of have somewhat of an excuse because of a starting qb going down

You basically never see power 5 coaches moving from one school to another if they are successful they tend to stick in place. Almost every hire is a guy who is over performing at a Cincinnati, Memphis, Boise, San Diego St etc etc. If not that, they are a high performing assistant. Then there's the rare case of getting someone from the broadcast booth like Meyer or from the NFL like Saban/Harbaugh.

You have to pounce when guys like that come available. So you pretty much make Chip Kelly say no if Butch is fired. Kelly managed to have back to back 10 win seasons in Philly, his leaving there was more conflict with the front office. San Francisco was just a mess. His record at Oregon was awesome and he left enough talent there for Oregon to go 33-8 the 3 years after he left with a playoff win and championship game before things fell apart.

Before anyone starts with the SEC smashmouth rah rah nonsense, from 2000-2017, the very height of the SEC's power, the conference record vs the Pac 10 is something like 15-14.

If Fulmer had not been brought back? We might have an outside chance of bringing him in.

Now that he is back in an official capacity? I think you might have a better chance of Majors being civil to Fulmer.

I think throwing out names is pointless, because I am convinced if Butch is fired, Fulmer's donor buddies will push for him to be the interim. At that point, I may finally start watching game of thrones to see what the big deal is.

JoAllen, you want to post the reason his O is 116 so far this season or just post the ranking???

And everyone is saying Butch is melting under the pressure.

What's next, bring in Pat Washington as recruiting coordinator?
