Huepel is terrible when it comes to short yardage play calling.

I went against my gut and went all in on Huepel. I'm back to wait and see. He doesn't value the kicking game and his entire team died by that tonight. I hope he will learn to not leave points on the board. So many variables indicated that kicking the FG in two instances was the right call. I think the short yardage plays is an OL issue hand has a lot to do with average OL play.

He also ran for key first downs like the one in OT on 4th down...and threw 5 td's. Could he have been better? Yeah, but he played hard and he wasn't the reason they lost.

I love what Hooker has done all year, but there were three sure tds he missed today, any one of which woulda won the game. Were there other players and coaches who contributed to the loss, sure.

On the plus side, we scored a TD in OT. It took blatant cheating to not give it to us.

The worst for me was watching one Vol defender grab the Purdue tight end and not tackle him, then turn him loose to run for the end zone, while two other Vols stood there and watched him get loose.

And yet, that play was over as much as or more so, than Wright's "non-TD."

Yes, he definitely needs to refine a few items in his game planning and late game management.

If players are expected to develop and get better with time, it's fair to expect the same from coaches. Heupel is still a relatively young head coach with only 1 year in the SEC. There's definitely room for improvement.

No, that would be playing for a FG. He schemed up back to back wide open TDs and Hooker couldn't make the throw. Is what it is.

since a fg would have won, playing for a FG equals playing to win. Its a simple tautology.

Because, as a friend pointed out tonight, he does not trust his defense. I believe there is some truth to that.

I think the biggest mistake was actually letting Purdue sub in their bigs on 4th down.

His handling of the final drive in regulation is much more questionable. I have no issue with going for it twice like he did in OT.

Refs failed to call defensive holding on one of the deep throws. Their db had a handful of jersey and his arm was extended…. Jersey was stretched out… should have been an easy call

We should have never been in OT, but CJH is a little too in love with tempo and big plays. (They weren’t needed). Ridiculous

On 1st and goal from the 3…. You run the damn ball when you’re averaging over 4.5 yards a carry.
When it’s 3rd and 3, you don’t throw deep. There were other examples as well…. Don’t act like you’re some incredibly knowledgeable guru if you can’t comprehend it… just stick to watching Young Sheldon

If we kicked a FG from the 1 yard line in OT this place would have crashed the servers. I would put money that Josh Heupel will never, ever kick a FG from the 1 yard line during his tenure as HC. Thats just chicken ****.
