i wish the kid luck. I sure hoped we would get him, but it didn't work out - at least he didn't go to an SEC school where we would have to play him regularly.
(yes I know we play in Norman next year, but I doubt he plays in it)

Big loss! He talked Big Orange all the time too. Could have contributed early as well. Really thought he would have took the JuCo route and come when in better shape. Gotta take care of those grades.

I think he will end up at junior college.

Quick question. If he ends up in JuCo, would we go after him for the 15 class? Kid seemed all Vol.

good info, makes sense. So why is prep school a different beast?

"If a prospect does not graduate from high school in four years he can enroll in a fifth year of high school at a preparatory school or military academy. The prospect's high school GPA is locked and can only be improved by retaking courses. A prospect does not lose college eligibility while competing for a prep school or military academy..." source: Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Rivals.com Recruiting Glossary

In other words, prep school is basically a fifth year of high school. On the other hand, JUCO does count against your college eligibility. If you play two years of JUCO ball, you can only play two seasons at the NCAA D1 level.

They have room to take the chance his grades are good enough. We did not with our number of commits. His scholarship counts whether he comes out eligible or not.

BV, the 2A raised the GPA requirement to 2.5 in transferable subjects at the end of'13. Incoming freshmen at the the four years must have a 2.3 GPA. Looks like a double standard , very typical of the2A.

That kid had a lot of baby fat on him and he didn't appear to be in shape. I see him as a two year project but he has great potential.

We passed on him but others are out there.

Just today GA OT Beard said he is transferring after May Graduation. I believe he started at least two games for the dawgs and we can use him right away if CBJ thinks he is good enough.

At this stage, I'll take Beard for one or two years rather than wait for a kid that is out of shape with grade issues.

He lost nearly all of that bad weight. He is right about where he needs to be before entering a college strength and conditioning program. This guy has legit first round potential. We will see if the staff pursues/wants him in two years

I know Phil Fulmer used to complain that atheletes who cant qualify at UT could qualify at other schools. May be the case here

I am hearing that more and more. But from my understanding, since UT established the Thornton center, once these guys qualify, they have the resources before them to help them earn their degrees if they aren't completely lazy.
