Origin of "meet so-and-so over the middle"

I have seen it so many times here on Volnation. I even get the humor, as I understand the joke through context. BUT- could you guys fill me in on the origin of this joke/saying? I mostly see EB14 mentioned; "Can't wait until EB meets him over the middle."

Did a player say this? A poster from VN? Or did it originate somewhere outside of the Vol community?

It was because of Marlon Brown choosing UGA over us, and it began with Eric Berry meeting him over the middle.

While you're at it, you should be sure to ask about Rod Wilks, Valid Victorian, Pocket Presents, and Gruden never leaving Tampa.

I'm almost 8% sure this story is accurate and has not been combined with other stories.

It was an article of the bold predictions of they year and EB meeting Marlon Brown over the middle and ending his career. I think. Lol

The comments were made here about "just wait until EB meets him over the middle." Not because it happened...

I honestly couldn't swear by it starting with Marlon Brown...but that's about the right timing.

This. I watched his announcement live and pitched a fit when he picked UGA. Funny how things seem to work themselves out! We got DR from GA and UGA got MB from TN.. fair trade IMO
