Orgeron Staying in NFL?

What are our thoughts on how much Lane is willing to pay for O.

I think it's nuts to almost double it from what the saints are paying..

Tennessee is a school that has to really recruit outside it's state to get to back to being elite status, I think Kiffen realizes the need.

Our moderator just posted that he is hearing that Coach O wants to be DC pretty bad.

That information favors UT...

I do know that Miles back up plan is Brick Haley for DL

Over 2 million dollars for Monte and O, that seems a bit over done IMO...3 coaches chewing up all your money..What is the budget?

It's an interesting situation

This only holds water if you think LSU has not offered Orgeron and/or he is not considering the offer.

O has an offer from LSU, that much we figure we do know as a fact in the equation.

The relatioship thing is over done.. Just like a lot of rumors, they come out of nowhere and become gospel some how?

UT will not be paying Monte and Coach O 2 million combined.

I'm not putting much stock into what Stud says, but I still think LSU is and never was a player for O.

I agree. I think he always intended to leave New Orleans and never seriously considered LSU. I think he's just leveraging for a better deal from UT.

But honestly...their quabbles are well documented.

We all know Miles doesn't always make great decisions...but you don't hire someone that you have despised for a lengthy amount of time to be an Assoc. Head Coach..

Just my rationalzation...

Lane's salary is helping UT, his 2 mil. gives us a little more wiggle room. Plus the budget was expanded for the staff this year, and Lane has ask for some additional money which to my understanding he can get.

Les makes about what Lane and Monte will make together, if that is any help.

Something that I wanted to mention, that seemed odd to me

It was reported that Chavis earned about 375k while at Tennessee. He was on staff for 16 years!

To think you would offer Coach O 650 or the 900K number just doesn't seem to sit well does it, and Monte 1.2 Million? Those two situation don't seem make a lot of sense.. But I realize UT is trying to do what ever it takes type attitude. Just wonder how that make Chavis..not that that really matters now

Did Some booster lay down his wallet or something?

Chavis was happy were he was and loved Tennessee. I'm sure he didn't mind the low salary if its going to help everyone out with his comfort level and the fact he wasn't forced to recruit.

You must be missing the part where you're coach is making more than we would be paying Monte, Lane, and O combined.

No I understand your arguement.. LSU has been moving it's budget up every year due to SEC competition... The HC salary and the Asst salaries are really a different budget line item.. The aren't really connected as you would think.. It's all about keeping up with the jones' in this CFB business these days..

Several programs are paying HC coaches 3 million plus or even 4...and paying OC and DC 500k or more. It wasn't that long ago top coaches were making 1.2 Million a year, now that's WAC money

But that only makes sense if you think LSU in fact has not offered Orgeron.

So, by that logic, if in fact LSU has offered (no way of proving this), that would mean that their relationship is a non-factor.
