Orgeron Staying in NFL?

don't get your hopes up, Miles is a slightly better version than Larry Coker.

To be honest, I don't really want to come onto your board and argue how good/bad LSU's future looks (although I do disagree with you). I'm sure you guys would rather keep the topic on TN as you should.

I'm just trying to give you some rumor mill information on the coaching hires from another perspective. Certainly, I have no inside info.

I'm not saying Orgeron will end up with LSU or not because truly I have no idea.

But, your assumptions are contrary to what people "in the know" at LSU are reporting.

In fact, one thing that is agreed upon by most of them is that LSU delivered an offer to Orgeron about a week ago. Supposedly, the offer was for over 500k.

I haven't seen a credible post confirm that Orgeron accepted yet, but there have been several credible posts that have confirmed that he was offered.

I wouldn't place your hopes on the "bad blood" aspect. If TN gets O, it's because he chooses TN over LSU...not because LSU isn't an option.

I will trust Chris Low and Brent Hubbs over an LSU message board member "in the know" 7 days a week and twice on sundays.

I'm not banking it solely on he and Miles relationship. That's just part of it. If he truly wants to get back into the college game...we're a better fit at the time of what we can offer. Title wise and money wise.

His family is very happy there. Looks like its the saints or us. And what about Gonz now, he has to be stinging. Thanks HV for the info.

I think they could go either way. If they get Chavis as expected, and either one of their current QBs develop or Shepard comes in and is a star immediately, they will be back in the hunt for the NC next year.

Kiffin has talked to him a couple times and had a meeting set up but it fell through because of weather. Hubbs has said Gonzo has told friends that he is sticking with UF but he doesn't think its over. That was before the news of Addazio's promotion. I'm sure Kiffin will press hard for him with a nice salary and the OC/WR title.

I agree with HV, they were QB terrible like we were this year. And their D took 2 steps back, for a few reasons. Chavis will make them better.

you're putting too much stock into recruiting

If they can get good QB play, and a DC that can cover for some of Miles' mistakes...they will be fine.

The NC that Miles won was partly because he had Bo Pelini to bail him out when he gambled and gave opponents the short field.

Recruiting is important, but you also have to be able to coach and develop the talent.

Just like CPF was doing!

Obviously you have to be able to utilize the talent and recognize where your talent is. Would you rather try to develop three star recruits or five star?

How much of Miles success came with his own guys? Were young guys a big part of the team last year? I'm really not sure. However, I am sure that Miles was left with a great situation when he took over. I'm not sure he will get the program to that level again.

If it were just by stars, I'd take the 5 star. Since I'm not paid to evaluate HS football players, I'll take Kiffin's choice. If he has the choice between the two and picks the 3*, he may see something that Rivals or Scout or whomever may not have seen.

With an NFL roster, Miles still managed to lose two games. Any other season in the last century, LSU's not even in the title game.

Miles is a better Larry Coker, like VB said.

Especially with the amount of quality coaches in the SEC.

It happens quite regularly. Rivals, Scout et al cannot really measure the desire and heart of the player. Sure these attributes contribute to his ranking, but they are not always developed at the high school level.
