Chris Lowe on ESPN is reporting that "O" may in fact wind up at LSU. ESPN - Kiffin dips back into NFL for offensive coordinator - SEC

There were reports Tuesday night that Orgeron had accepted a position at LSU as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator, although nobody at LSU was willing to confirm that. The Vols are prepared to pay Orgeron as much as $600,000 annually. He's considered one of the best recruiters in the country and would also coach defensive line.

One of the holdups in his coming to Tennessee could be that he and his family prefer to live in Louisiana.

Family weighs heavy in a decision on where to take employment. Hope Coach O can talk his wife into it. A new big fat diamond ring might help.

Chavis and O will be oil and water. Wait and see. I'm with HV. It is time to cut bait and move on.

Im sick of all this garbage with O, let him enjoy Les Miles. I will also state however that I am completely underwhelmed with our new OC.

It will be a good hire.

It was one thing to be in a pissing contest with the Saints. If he wants to be at LSU then I say have at it Yaw Yaw.

UT needs Coach O bad! They must offer him whatever it takes--give him a blank check. It may take more than $1 mil per year, plus incentives.

No way in hell we are going to pay that much for him. Damn, he's a good coach, but not that!

If he wants to stay home and his heart isn't in it, then that is the best place for him. We need guys who want to be here and do their best for tennessee. I wanted orgeron, but him and chavis together can't last long anyway. Cut the line and move on, sadly.

You mean outside of the fact that he has a tremendous resume? Oh wait, his name doesnt win the press conference. I forgot how important that is in the grand scheme of things...

There have been many that reported UT was willing to pay around the 600 mark for him. I really think the fact that he gets to stay home is the deciding point. If it was LSU, he would most definetly be at UT. Sexton is really sticking the screws to everything SEC.

Also, I have to add that in the first two pages there were quotes about LSU fans having fun at UT. I'll second that. It was the best road trip I've had. The river makes for an awesome gameday atmosphere.

No doubt Coach O is good at what he does, but people need to stop acting like he invented recruiting and D-line coaching.

O is announcing right after the LSU game.

New Orleans Saints assistant Ed Orgeron will make the decision about his coaching future on New Year's Day.

Orgeron can remain with the Saints, join Lane Kiffin's staff at Tennessee or join Les Miles' staff at LSU.

"I think that (Orgeron) will stay in Louisiana," Hebert said. "He'll either be with the Saints or LSU. He'll announce what he's going to do Thursday."

Reportedly, Orgeron has been offered a large salary by Miles to be defensive line coach, associate head coach and recruiting coordinator. All indications are that Orgeron will return to college football at LSU.

Orgeron, who signed with LSU after graduating from South Lafourche, transferred to Northwestern State. His first coaching position came at Miami in 1988. Orgeron also coached at Nicholls State and Syracuse before going to Southern California.

Saints coach Sean Payton hired Orgeron as his defensive line coach after he was fired from the head job at Ole Miss. During his three seasons with the Rebels, Orgeron had a 10-25 record.

Earl Lane is the current defensive line coach for the Tigers. There has been no word as to where Lane will be coaching next season.

Orgeron would be the second former head coach on Miles' staff. Offensive coordinator Gary Crowton was the head coach at both Louisiana Tech and Brigham Young.

Former Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis is expected to be named to the same job at LSU. Chavis would coach the linebackers – a role presently handled by Bradley Dale Peveto, who is moving on to be the head coach at Northwestern State.

Secondary coach Doug Mallory is expected to become defensive coordinator at New mexico following LSU's Chick-fil-A Bowl game against Georgia Tech on Wednesday night. Therefore, Miles would have to hire a defensive backs coach.

Miles has had discussions with San Francisco 49ers secondary coach Vance Joseph about that post. Former Tennessee defensive backs coach Larry Slade has also been mentioned as a candidate although it appears that Slade is going to Louisville as an assista

No, this was at UT. Unfortunately, we lost. I still had a hell of time. In fact, quite a bit of the game is still hazy. I remember being up by fourteen. Some UT fan next to me wanting to kill Clausen...literally. For three quarters he was wanting to do so. Fourth quarter, Clausen lead a comeback and other Tennessee fans start ripping this guy. It was fun. Reminded me of Tiger Stadium sometimes.haha

Im sure recruits all over the country have jumped up at the announcement that Chaney is coming.

If he wants to stay home he wants to stay home. Can't fault him for that. We'll just have to find the right guy to come here and Kiff has already made that choice.

Its not like we were going to land a top 10 class by hiring Gonzo. One recruit is not worth signing an O.C. for. If we win, they'll come.

I think you guys are just fine. Kiffin, I would imagine, will be running offense anyway. The two Kiffins will go a long way in recruiting. I think the only question with Monte is he up for hitting the recruiting trail. If so, he will get some fine recruits.
