We are human. We all make mistakes, nobody is perfect. All I'm saying is that she made the wrong choice but she will be okay because in the long run since she was under such mental hardship

I had no idea there was a biblical clause about suicide not sending you straight to hell if you were mentally distressed.

Of all your analogies this is the worst I'm afraid. The whole point of the crucifixion story was PRECISELY because it didn't "have" to happen...it was done specifically on behalf of others. His suffering, literally by design, was intentional and for a purpose...it's just got nothing to do with Maynard's decision.

Whatever you feel on the subject is fine but you've been using some bad comparisons of late in trying to make your point.

Pretty much anyone who commits suicide is going to be considered mentally distressed. And it doesn't matter what I believe, I don't believe in any of it. But I do know what the bible says, and you're contradicting it.

I just hate to someone to give up. Give up might be the wrong term, because what she did was still difficult to do. Yes, she went through a lot, and a great deal of suffering was ahead, but I would imagine the majority go through til death. It's hard to put yourself in her shoes, but I would do my best to struggle to live until death came. From the viewpoint of the doctor, I don't know if I would feel comfortable doing it. I'd hate to be in that situation.

I guess it comes down a to a personal choice. I prefer relying on faith and hoping something happens. I understand it's probably futile, and I don't criticize her choice at all for choosing death earlier. Personally I would feel I would owe it to my family to try my best and stay alive. JMO.

Felt bad that she did this, but it's incredibly brave.

People with mental issues would be "Weary and burdened" imo. Also Jesus followers were the bottom of the society barrel and those with mental issue would fall in that category

That's a very liberal interpretation of the scripture. "Come to me" can mean suicide in this instance?

Jesus KNEW he was going to die a horrible death. He didn't run away or throw himself off a tower. He faced it with pure courage

His suffering was THE POINT of it all and a deliberate end game of which he was a willing participant. In fact, if he wasn't a willing participant it doesn't work.

NONE of this is relevant to the Maynard case...it just isn't.

Mentally ill people usually don't have the best life. A lot of them are homeless or living in tough conditions like a mental hospital or jail.

I understand this perspective and see the love in that decision, but I think a large part of the decision making process for those like Maynard concerns family as well. It is not only their own suffering and quality of life, but that of their family they wish to limit. Love for family plays a large role.
