Oregon suicide law

Yes but factories have to be built and people have to work in them to make the suicide prescription when those resources should be used and should've been used to work on finding a cure.

A tad overboard there.

Maybe but Doctors and drug companies should be working on curing people, not filling death prescriptions. It leads to a slippery slope

I'm against and would try to convince anyone not to kill themselves for any reason. However I also support an adults decision to do with their life as they see fit.

DonT catholics believe that suicide is an unforgivable sin and that this girl is going to hell without question? For the record i believe in eternal security...once saved always saved. Scripture supports my belief.

Committing suicide is a mortal sin, but since that sin was committed under great duress and her judgement was clouded, it doesn't count

Serious question: how ****ing drunk are you right now?

I'm completely sober but I appreciate your concern considering you called me the worst earlier. Usually people who I view as the worst, I don't care for their opinion. But you do for some unknown reason

Honestly, if I were you, I would have just lied and said you were hammered.

Honestly I don't know why you keep asking me. You said I was the worst, then proceeded to ask me more questions. Usually I ignore people who I view as the worst, not engage them in conversation

You might have answered already but do you believe assisted suicide in terminal cases should be outlawed?

I don't think we should waste our time banning things when that time would be better spent doing other things like finding cures. But if I was standing in a voting booth like I was today with a yes or no choice, I would vote no. They are going to find a cure for cancer in 20-30-50 years and people will look back and say "dang, what a shame, that woman killed herself over something we can now easily cure".

Yet she couldn't feed herself, walk, or even talk! She should have waited it out, right?

Which would be relevant 20-30-50 years from now. You have to make decisions based on the facts as they are, not what they may or may not be decades or centuries from now.

My understanding is that she wasn't in hospice care and the reason she ate the suicide prescription pills was because she was having seizures and she was worried eventually a seizure could make her unable to commit suicide. If she couldn't feed herself she could've done a DNR

Wrong is wrong. It's not like we look back at slavery or the Nazis and say "oh it's cool it was so long ago"

Yea really. There were people back in the dark ages who would beat themselves bloody to avoid getting the plague. We now view those people as insane and misguided

These comparisons are seriously garbage.

Flagellants were religious fanatics resorting to desperation in the face of a pandemic disease. They were scared. They were trying to avoid death by appeasing a supposedly angry god.

Slavery and the holocaust were a means of cheap labor and cultural extermination.

Oregon's legal termination is a way out for those who don't want them or their loved to see the suffering that comes with most terminal cancers. Stop making it into this lack of will to fight. It's acceptance, and it's a conscious decision to spend your final days on your terms.

Maybe we aren't supposed to understand each other.

Either way, you're still digging yourself into a big fat hole of stupid.

So is hanging yourself in a closet which we had a friend do. None of us said "Good for him, he was really sick and wasn't happy"

Another fan-effing-tastic comparison.

Let's put a drug-induced euphoria where someone is in a room surrounded by loved ones, and compare it to Joe Schmo offing himself with a noose. Alone.

Let that last word sink in. Alone.

I'm a Christian and I believe in Jesus. Jesus spent 3 hours on the cross in agony. If he didn't want to be there, he could of snapped his fingers and it would've been over. But he didn't. Life is full of ups and downs and hopefully I'm prepared to handle them all

I could change the story to him jumping off a bridge on cnn for everyone to see if you want

Sounds like you would obligate others to endure that kind of suffering, which is funny considering why Jesus went through everything he did.

... Or you just need to set aside some of that day trading cash to hire someone to either:

-put you through a crash course in comparative literature in order to become proficient in comparing two similar situations, people, or settings.

-write your posts on VN for you.
