I'm of the opinion that every day that you're breathing you have a chance so I cannot condone taking your own life. However I have no right or would I want to restrict a person's ability to make that decision.

Ugh... someone killing themself is hardly something I would consider "beautiful"

Tragic is more like it

Beautiful? Have you been hitting the sauce this morning?

Y'all are confusing two totally different things.

The brain cancer is ****ing awful. Very sad, tragic thing to happen.

Being able to go out on your own terms, with your loved ones with you, and avoid totally unnecessary suffering, that is a beautiful thing. I am happy she was able to move to Oregon in time and able to leave this world on her own terms without having to suffer needlessly.

Yes, it is beautiful. Not sure why this is hard to see.

I have no issue with it. I'm sorry that she was suffering.

I've watched 2 people die. There is nothing beautiful about it. It seriously ranks up there as the dumbest thing I've read on volnation

I have too, ftr. It is awful to watch somebody waste away and suffer. I agree there is nothing beautiful about that.

Death is a natural part of life. I think it is absolutely beautiful that she did it on her own terms with those she loved. Difference of opinion.

If that is one of the dumbest things you've read on here then so be it. Glad you're here to set us straight.

Two people off themselves or two people die peacefully by taking a large dose of barbiturates to end their suffering?

Two completely different things.

Two people in comas. You don't just close your eyes and fall "asleep" like some ending of a movie.

Why are you arguing about a word as subjective as "beautiful"? It has different meanings to different people.

They are not arguing that the act of death is beautiful, only that the ability to choose her fate allowed for a certain dignification of something that would be otherwise awful. The woman was able to control her fate in the face of terminal cancer and there's a certain beauty in that.
